I am testing a Fastlink (huwaei) E160 USB modem.

So far, it works except for USSD commands, which does not work in the fastlink software or with MDMA.

The error says failed, can't quite remember all of it at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Search for some threads posted by Darius2, i think he concluded the current firmware on the E160 does not support USSD.

If it's an MTN branded device, complain to them, they may get it fixed like they did for the E620 since their dashboard does USSD these days.

If you have the time, please send me the details so I can add the E160 to MDMA's compatibility matrix.

Update: Wheunis said he had a client who used USSD on an E160, but it was a Vodafone model so may have come with a different firmware.

MDMA gives the error: "USSD sending failed" where the MTN software just says, "failed."

I dn't know much about these things, as they are supposed to just be plug and play.

I downloaded the latest E620 software from the MTN website and my E620 still does not support USSD codes... athough MDMA does add USSD functionality.

So does your E620 do USSD using MDMA?
If not, then you need the E620 firmware upgrade that MTN released in December 2007.

The E620 does support USSD codes through MDMA.

I spoke to the Business solutions helpdesk today (1555) they didn't mention a firmware update coming soon to rectify the E160 problem...
