At our butchery we have 3 visa machines, which is currently connected via a fastnet modem. The visa machines we rent from one business, and the fastnet from another.
My question is, cant I use our existing adsl connection in the office for the visa machines at the till as well? We have 2 pcs in office, and then the 3 visa machines. It will cost us R500 less a month for fastnet then.

Fine I know, but why cant I connect the visa machines to a network switch, and to the adsl in the office? I mean the visa machines uses internet, right? Or am I missing something here?

Do you REALLY want your shop not to be able to accept payments when ADSL is down

ADSL is NOT suitable for mission critical transactions like that

Rather go GPRS with analog telephone line backup

And THAT is what Fastnet will tell her!

Okay, didn't think of that, just a lot of money a month, I mean R500 a month is not small change.

Perhaps you can get better GPRS data bundles, because I can't think that those machines would use more than 100MB/month each.
