Rawr! I can't make a title like that without feeling epic.
I made a Honda E-Storm thread the other day cause I was considering getting one for the legendary Honda quality.
Lo and behold my scooter breaks yesterday, making me walk home from Canal Walk to Parklands. Yes, Canal Walk to Parklands - think about that for a second. My shift at work finished at 2 and I got home at almost 5. My legs feel like jelly today.
A lot of things are breaking on that scooter and at once. It needs new tyres, and I'm not buying that Nylon crap so 2x new decent tyres = R1200*
Just had the belt and rollers replaced less than two weeks ago (R390 + R580)
Had it serviced at that point as well (can't remember the amount - think it may actually be part of the R580).
And yesterday it died, would not start, the engine turned over but would not fire. I charged it at CW with a battery charger and it started, but would sound like it's going to die down... it would sputter if i did not rev the engine.
I don't know if it's the battery per sĂŞ, but it probably is.
However I don't really care, I'm going to strip the thing and teach myself as much about scooters as I can and buy something new*.
R1200* an estimate
new* new in the sense of new purchase, not neccesarily new retail product.
My options and limitations.
Budget is R15k, but let's be honest, financing a brand new decent quality bike will still work out cheaper than my scooter, so the 15k could be a deposit.
I don't really want a Honda E-Storm, yeah it's cheap & tough, but I don't want something slow. It's still an option though.
Second hand I can probably pick up an 07 Honda CBX 250 for R15-17k
Or I can get an older, larger displacency Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki etc. Those old VFR's, ZZR's you see on the roadm but that pushed my budget up to around R25k and I just don't think that's going to happen.
I can probably also get one of those older CBR 125's.
But yeah, hit me up with some suggestions or idea's, I still have a car in the meanwhile.
