Fault New Mac Book Pro

by the sounds of it, the dealer did not communicate Core's T&C. I just checked one of my invoices from an iStore and at the back they have the T&C's - section 7.2 - too lazy to scan or retype, but get yourself one of those. Replacement applies for OBF within 7 calendar days. Service (once you service, product can not be replaced) - the same section also mentions that an Apple Authorized Service Provider must deem the product OBF within 14 calendar days of the invoice date to receive a replacement. In my opinion reading the T&Cs the dealer can deem the product OBF and will then organise a replacement (provided 14 days have not lapsed).

I have been very clear that the product is not to be serviced / repaired and that I want a replacement. This was very clear.

The dealer did not communicate Core's new T&C's, and therefore the commonly accepted principle applies, in my opinion.

Product was taken back on Day 7 (fulfilling the 7 calendar days). It was taken back to an Apple Authorised repairer, and they deemed it defective on Day 7.

Let's give them a day or two, but I don't understand what is not clear in their minds (the Apple Authorised Dealer, the Apple Authorised repair and Core).

Guys, there is no apple authorised anything in SA, just core and core approved resellers.
There is no authorised applecare in SA either. The core T&C is just that, its not an apple warranty.
Try calling apple uk and ask them to locate authorised apple repair in SA, they will tell you there is none.
Sucks, but that's what apple users have to contend with.

The Apples 4 Apples branch in Durban, has it marked on their letterhead: "Apples 4 Apples is the only Apple Authorised Service Provider in KZN and surrounding regions". If what you say is true then it should have read, the "Core Authorised". Apples 4 Apples have then misrepresented themselves.

Citimac is the Apple Authorised Service Provider. See the link from: http://www.apple.com/za/buy/

Citimac and Apples4Apples are part of the same group.

As I said, legally, I have no relationship with Core. I purchased a Mac from Citimac, with no specific T&C's and hence the commonly accepted Apple's T&C's will apply. Between Citimac and Apples4Apples, they have to carry the can.

I really hope you get it sorted. When my 2009 mac pro had probs I took it back after 2 days, core wouldn't swap it out, they wanted to book it in for repairs.
I ended up staying and arguing for hours until they relented and gave me a new one.

I bought a 13" macbook pro from the iStore in Gateway and now, 6 months later, I'm finally getting a refund. I had to go through repairs, then a replacement which was also defected and then finally after voicing my complaints to David Jossel, head of iStore, and a huge amount of time and energy it got sorted and they did the refund today. I was planning on getting a computer from citimac but now I'm not so sure?? THis whole situation with the premium resselers and core group is ridiculous. JUst dig your heels in and make sure they know how you feel. You will have to phone people constanly to get anything done. I'v had to phone the financial manager of cor 5 times in the last 2 days and had to give my banking details 3 times!

core sucks and so do most dealers

i have been using apple since forever. core sucks as in big time, they have no staff who have any knowledge whatsoever. if you call them and ask a technical question it is followed by a long silence. the same with dealers. the tech guys and girls have very, very limited knowledge about historical and current products. they charge a fortune and provide no support when needed. my advice, do not buy apple stuff in sa. two weeks ago i went to digicape and asked whether i could upgrade an two year old mac pro. the answer was no, not interested in your used mac pro (bought from them).

apple doesn't care about sa, the took the iphone away from core as well. volume is too little. btw, a mtn store confirmed this afternoon that mtn will carry the iphone 4 from july, they received that confirmation in writing from their hq earlier this week.
