Faulty Netgear modems...

I was promised that the netgear modems would work just as well as the Telkom stuff.

If that fails contact Netgear (www.netgear.com) directly and tell them about the absense of service in South Africa. That could place the Duxbury agency in jeopardy.

Take Peapod as an example: She ALMOST has ADSL after shouting, begging and what else - just because she continued her actions. And she is still fighting, and obviously won't stop before she has what she wants.

I can say the same: I was in a shouting match with Telkom, but the did install ADSL within 3 weeks as promised after they "forgot" about my order.
 
LOL i had exactly the same problem it took the ages to install my stuff and i also have a DM602 netgear modem that has been giving me many hassles and i have complaighned to duxburry who never got back to me and sent netgear a email who also never got back to me , well i am never buying netgear products again . If thats the way they are
 
I have a Netgear DG814 and am a very happy customer! I also recommended it to a friend who subsequently purchased one when he also got ADSL and he has also had no problems with it. I have looked at other ADSL modems and find them rather complicated to configure, the DG814 is very user friendly.
 
I can also recommend Netgear, I have used their gear for many months now without problems. Any initial issues were speedily resolved by Duxbury in Cape Town
