Is it only the 12VDC and 5VDC that must be checked on the 4-pin connector .... what must be checked on the 24-pin connector ?

You'll need to test all the outputs.

You may need to connect the motherboard to provide a 'load' during testing.

I know for a fact that the 450W PSU has never been used. It came with the tower case that I bought and I imediately changed it for the 600W PSU .... so not so sure

It could be DOA, happens to any type of PSU, I even experienced it with a stupidly expensive, brand new Corsair AX850. Out of the box and it was dead. You'd have to borrow another PSU as suggested, or spend a few hundred bucks on a proper PSU tester.

Hey all, just wanted to give an update ....
I eventually took it into the local Matrix Warehouse who treated me super professionally and gave me excellent service - big up to Bradley at Matrix Warehouse in Illanga Mall, Nelspruit.

Turns out it was indeed the PSU. Replaced it and R240 later i am on my way again .... time to chuck out the other two I have.

Glad you're sorted but that's really cheap for a PSU - you will have problems again sooner of later. What make did they give you?

Probably. It was the only one they had. Made in China special @ 450W
