I'v had my PS3 for quite some time and I havn't really used it much for gaming etc, more media server link, but the other day I decided I wanted to watch a blue ray movie and about 20 min in the picture and sound froze (playstation was still running - could use menus etc). I thought maybe it was just that movie, but then I borrowed a few more movies and each one does the same thing (if it even reads)..... I then thought that it might be over heating so I got a cooler for it but that didn't change anything...

Out of interest, I tried a few games and realised that only some work, others freeze up on loading or during installation. With nothing to loose, I formatted it in hopes of something changing but that also didn't help...

Does anyone have any idea what could be the matter? Also where would I take it in to be repaired if that's an option? I live in Stellenbosch so preferably somewhere in the general Cape Town area would be nice..

Thanks

When last did you update your PS3's firmware?

I keep it up to date at all times, I did think it was just out dated firmware but that didn't help either..
