hi jack
So I upgraded my cpu ram & mb from the old socket 1366 to a new 2700k. Now the problem is I could not install windows 7 as I kept getin the blue screen of death. This was fix by takein the bios setin off auto detect (was detecting the ram as 1333mhz) and seting it to 1600. I manage to install win 7 but get the random Memory dump blue screen whit just a clean windows install. Running the windows memory tool just makes the pc reboot twice and it never a) finish the test or b) even start the test. Now faulty ram or do I have other problems I do not know about ?

You have a couple of ways of going about this
1) Get memtest, you'll need to create a bootable CD (not sure if it can run on USB yet). That'll test mostly RAM
2) Drop your RAM to 1066 speeds, see if you can get into Windows. Then run Prime95 with small FFTs. That'll test mostly the CPU. After you're happy the CPU is good, run IntelBurnTest, which tests CPU and RAM. Remember to set it to max RAM. If that passes, try upping the RAM to 1333 and repeat.
3) Up the RAM voltage to 1.55V (I assume you are running 1.5V sticks) and try run at 1600mhz

Thanks will try that when I get home. Memory brand is patriot if I'm not mistaken
