Favorite Non-SA Beer

I'm a huge fan of Young's Special London Ale. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/664/724/

Me too, I enjoyed many a pint of Young's Special (the cask version served in the pubs) when I lived in London in the late 90's.

Guinness original is my current favourite since they started brewing it here, and it must be the best value quality beer available in SA at less than R12 per quart (net of the return deposit). I prefer it to the (very expensive) imported Guinness Draught cans.

Local Guinness is quite drinkable and affordable, as you say, but it does not taste the same as the Irish brewed one.

That's what the cans are for. Nothing on the market comes close to Guinness for flavour and malt content.

Like my 2M and St Laurent from Moz, for the rustic unrefined flavour. Carlsberg is a bit light in the trousers but at least less overpowering than Heineken (the local variety). Tiger beer from Singapore is a tasty pale lager. Of course there is Tsing Tao which I am amazed we don't get in ample supply here, a fruity cocktail and generous palate/aftertaste. Personally my fave would have to be Orion beer. Nothing beats an ice-cold Orion on the parched streets of Naha in the mid-summer glow.

Tried some Asahi Beer today (Japanese)...pretty good. Cheaper than Peroni & better imo.

Indian Cobra beer is also decent given the price.

Zambezi
Mosi
Maluti
Tusker (this one is really good)
kronenbourg 1664
ozujsko

Drove around looking for the Rekordelig flavoured beers or ciders. Seems to have been discontinued.

Found this at Makro and it is just as good. Also a cider and from Sweden. Bought a case of Raspberry and then a case of Strawberry and Lime.

Really good and not bad for an imported beer - R12.50 each.
