Fax 2 Email ?

Not found a thread so here I go ...

Been asked at work about getting Fax 2 Email, and a google search gets a list of "free" providers, also on Telkoms web page, they refer one to outside providers.

So what is the story, how does this work?

Does Telkom supply you a number and then you pair this with a fax 2 email gateway or what?

Any help and enlightenment appreciared.

Nope, you just sign up for the free service, give them your e-mail address and all the faxes sent to the virtual number come to your e-mail address.
You just have to keep the number active by receiving at least one fax every three months, and they make money by charging premium rates for the original phone calls.
Note, that the fax service only works within South Africa, International numbers cannot call that number.
