FBI issues code cracking challenge

This is just going to encourage hacking. Think of the consequences. "Yeah, I hacked into the FBI mainframe because last time they challenged me to crack their codes, so I was just doing the same thing"

Hardly? breaking a simple cypher and actually hacking the FBI database are very different things.

It could create an interest in cyber divisons, cyphers/general encryption, which from what i hear the industry really needs ppl on the "good" side.

out of interest i browsed the FBI page and viewed job applications. the requirements are fairly simple to apply for the cyber division team (pay is not too shabby either....) Easy way to get a gun and a badge and run around chasing aliens with red shoe diary casts.

I have not looked at it , but there you go, point proven. Its simply a fun little game with what i am sure is alot of public awareness/advertising behind it.....
Not really encouraging a "HACK THE PLANET" mentality is it.
 
Well I saw the URL in the message and decided to rather use that to my advantage. I directory listed their server and it was simple to see what file was needed to get the congratulation message.

At least it was fun!
