Hi fellow users,
I have been experiencing a state of total incompetence from telkom for almost 10 months now!

We applied for our adsl line in November last year, we were then told it would take 6 weeks for installation -> mid December (nice, or so we thought)
When our office closed for Christmas, we phoned again and asked about the installation, we were told that the project were moved to 22 January as there were problems with a "UMC" or something. Once again the date came and went, it was then shifted to 11 May and from there to 1 July and from there to today (20 August)! I have just spoken to a technician who informed me that the system date has now once again changed to 28 September! WTF!!!!

They (telkom) say they are waiting for the slots to arrive in SA as they buy them overseas??!!

After phoning telkom customer care, the lady said to me she can NOT escalate my complaint because there is a project already linked to my reference number. THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE DECEMBER. We were NEVER told about a "project" when we applied for the line and they gladly accepted our order!

Are there any other people in the same predicament? We are in Limpopo and there are no Iburst or wireless ISP's around. So we have to sit and wait for telkom while using dial-up!!

I apologise if this seems like a rant, but I'm quite FED-UP!!

If only ranting helped.... unfortunately there isnt a telkom presence on this website, well one that could actually be able to do anything about your problem. Just reitterates everyones opinion that Telkom is not interested in its clients telecommunication needs...

Sorry dude, but face it, there's no money to be made in Limpopo.

Chances of Telkom helping you out are very slim.

You've only been having problems for 10 months.....your one of the lucky ones then. There's tons of rants here about telkoms incompetence - some poor sods have been waiting for over a year :(

You know telkom pays millions and millions of rands in fines anually because of their refusal to equip rural areas with the sufficient hardware for normal telephone service and adsl...
crayzeee - their view on that is they will lose more money to debt than pay a fine...

That really sucks been messed around like that by telkom, BUT just be grateful that iburst is NOT available in your area or you'll be pulling your hair out dealing with their accounts department.

Best to stick with dialup until telkom sort out your ADSL line.

Thanks for all the replies guys. At least I have ADSL at home. I ordered it the exact same day we ordered it at work, and mine was installed on 16 December (yes, that's right, ON A HOLIDAY! :p )
I live approx 3km away from my office. Funny to think that there is no adsl infrastructure just 3km from home

Oh well, as usual the boss sh@t himself when I told him what the date now is. :D

Thanks for letting me vent a bit...It really helped.

Ciao
