Anyone know of a good local mirror?

looks awesome, have you installed it already? how's it? :-)

Got back late from work so I have only had a chance to look at the live boot so far. The immediate impression is that Gnome 3 has had some work done - looks better and has a bit more functionality. Looking forward to doing an install.

Still wondering if I should attempt another dist upgrade. Worked perfectly going for F15->F16, but it can also blow up in my face.

Apart from the interface enhancement, most of the improvements seem to be around cloud and sandbox applications (there may be some other things that I have not seen yet). If this is not too important to you and F16 is working fine then there may not be a compelling reason to upgrade.

I have decided to upgrade to F17 since I will be giving F18 a skip. It looks like they may introduce the new file system as default on this and previous experience has shown that it can be best to give a major change like this some time to settle down first.

recently did a run on something like f14 rawhide -> f15 stable -> f16 stable

i will be doing a f16 -> f17 when next i boot fedora. which should hopefully be this weekend.

noticed the following problem on firefox 12 on this forum (installed from source rather than rpm) . Look where you normally see which forum you are in

Repo version does not exhibit this problem (firefox.i686 12.0-1.fc17) but I have found a repeatable problem with flash on speedtest.net (x64 & i686 versions). Firefox 12 on Fedora 14 is OK with speedtest.net.

this seems to be an issue with the source version. debian running the same version does the same thing.

though in part, it must mean that there maybe something with how the mybb forum is setup given that it isn't something i experience on other vb forums.

Got it up and running. Everything is working smoothly on my openbox + tint2 setup.

It's good to have the new stuff like GCC 4.7, Gnome 3.4, etc.

Running Firefox 13 now. Was quite strange how the update took place, I don't really know how :D Got to work this morning, opened up Firefox 12 and was working for a bit, closed it for a few minutes and then opened up Firefox again and it had the new home screen thingy. I don't see this issue in Firefox 13 though.

I upgraded to Fedora 17 on Wednesday. I see they still haven't fixed the problem with the packagekit("Waiting in Queue").
Otherwise, still "setting up home", without other complaints. I kinda like the new Gnome lay-out.

EDIT: Anybody thinking of trying something else. I've installed Linux mint a few weeks back on my wifes Notebook and upgraded her to the new one with Cinamon as deafault, this week (The DVD one with all the codecs etc). Very easy to setup, actually its just install and everything works out of box. Libreoffice and all codecs and players etc, everything works. I'm still a die hard Fedora fan, but getting everything to work from scratch (Live-CD), is a mission. I'm seriously concidering going for Linux mint next time, it's just.....naaah...

Picked up problems with the Live CD back in Beta so I've been using the Install DVD with EasyLife & gnome-shell-frippery since with no problems.

Wanted to download that, ag well, next time.

Now I found out, that ATI don't support the HD4xxx series graphics cards in the new linux builds. So no Catalyst for F17 or Mint. The last few months, every now and then there was something that indicated me to get a new card and everytime I got a solution. Hope something pops up.
