Feedback from Firmware upgrade

so it seems the speed problems have been solved. I was holding off from iBurst for as long as i can to allow the problems to be sorted out, but my helkom ISDN bill is off the wall.:( I also see that i should be covered by 2 or 3 base stations:D Should i switch now???
no, you should stay in your fairy tale where ISDN is comparable to a 1mbit connection

Noone the 64k should not be bad at all,
Users will be able to check there usage on the OSS from launch,
According to what I have heard prices will only be released on launch.

yes i know Dylan, thanks for the info. I budget for ****, so pricing at this time would have been nice

lol, My only real gripe were the speed issues experienced recently, i'm just woundering if these are history, now with this new firmware...

I may just wait for launch date an see if there are any other interesting packages available.

The only thing ISDN has been great for is its relaibility...First there are its stable 50ms - 60ms great for gaming pings:D, and then there's telkrap reliably taking a large chunk out of the bank every month:(...

Please could someone also tell me when the launch is actualy going to be???

Launch = 1 April 2005

shaun, care to comment on what would actually count towards the cap? International downloads only? Or international downloads and uploads (crap idea if you have this in place)? or *shudder* exactly the same as telkom where they count international AND local downloads AND uploads towards the cap?

Please Shaun, your UTD I have in my possession's life hangs in the balance! :D

Hi Shaun

Ok, i've signed up just to give u feedback on the firmware upgrade - although i've been watching this forum for about 2 months now (since i got iburst).

I must say a BIG thumbs up for excellent work done - speeds are phenomenal. Current measurment at Helkom: Your line speed is approximately 681.8 Kbps or 83.6 kBytes/sec (last night was 96 - 102kB!)

(it used to be 10kBytes if i was lucky!).

For the first time last night i was bragging to a buddy of mine that i had iburst (he's got ADSL 512). I kept it a secret all this time. We compared speeds and he got 467.1 Kbps or 57.2 kBytes/sec. Ha!

So it rocks! Just hope it lasts though.. please say it will... pleeeeaaasseeeee!!

Other than that, I'm a very happy customer now (was not so happy for the first 2months).. but now.. i could kiss u ..smack..smack :D

PS. i'm in JHB Killarney.

I take it back!!!!

Ok what the HELL is going ON!! Since about ten last night - bam - back to same old sucky speeds ranging between 6 - 11.9 kBytes/sec!

Seriously Shaun, did u guys not like my pretty comments or what!? Clearly u like p!ssed off customers more than happy ones!

Can't believe i had to go brag about u guys, now i look like the fool!

lol, dude calm down, they're probably testing things for the launch next week, and seeing as it's a super long weekend, I doubt the techies wants to work over the holidays and tested something last night.

Ok, well i hope so, but previous experience have said otherwise. Also, does that mean we're on sloooooow speeds now for the rest of the loooong weekend?

Not fair i tell ya.. not fair.

Everythings cool again... back to me high speeds :D

Keep it up guys!

OMS i raped the Telkom test, this is first time, i cleared browser cache and history and did it again. Ever since i got iBurst i havnt had problems, DL's at +- 120KB/s

"Your line speed is approximately 1097.4 Kbps or 134.5 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )"
