Fertility Testing

This has been something I have been thinking of a lot lately. What if either me or the wife is infertile? That would obviously mean she can go off the pill. But apparently this testing is expensive, but I don't really know anything about it. Has anyone done this lately? How much was it, and what did it involve exactly, i.e. the process?

The reason I suspect this, is because we've had a lot of sex since we started dating (let's say start of 2005), but she has never become pregnant, and she's only ever used the pill.
 
I've been curious about this as well. We don't know yet if we want kids or not but I'd like to know if we're able to. Definitely not gonna stop using protection to test it out

Same. But we do know that we'll definitely be OK with not being able to. And we both agree that we will not adopt. But it would be nice to know.
 
When i worked on a cattle farm we had a guy come out to test the bulls semen - after milking him he checks under a microscope how lively the sperm is. Suppose you can get a microscope and do the same ?

What if they're just sleepy?

EDIT: If I could afford a microscope, I'd probably be able to do the in-depth testing to begin with.

Lol, there should be some movement. Looking at the sample you make a rough guess as to what % are vibing around. I wonder if these microscope kits you buy will be able to zoom in as to see the movement :confused:
 
Make an appointment at a urologist. The male testing is a lot simpler than female testing. It's not a big thing either - Ampath does the test, the urologist will write the report.

Give me one shot at your wife. if she doesn't fall pregnant, she's infertile. But I aint raising another...
 
Lol she should be having internal exams at the Gyne (the moment you become sexually active or older than 18 I believe). Go with her next time and speak to him/her. They will be able to give you the information you need.

Just because she isn't falling pregnant on the pill doesn't mean you cannot have kids. I was on the pill for 5 years. Forgot for 3 days and fell pregnant in those 3 days. Be careful.

Kidding. I think it would be a good way to do it, as if I know I am not, then she doesn't have to go for testing for it, and can go off the pill.

She goes for a papsmear and checkup every year. But they don't include fertility testing in that.

Regarding the forgetting pills, yeah, I'd say having done it correctly for 14 years we're very careful.

If you want to make sure, just stick your junk in the microwave and have a laptop on your lap very often. Also, carry a couple of phones in your pockets.
 
She's on the pill, it's doing its job. Stop that and then see after a few months :)

OMG! Don't! Not if you are not sure you want kids. They are with you forever!!! I love mine to bits but boy - they change everything!

That's a terrible attitude to have. Surely you can just drop them off somewhere when you're sick of them?
