I agree with you, let the battle be settled in court. I think they are being ridiculous....so many of these boomed off areas are going up, and it combats crime. They are just stupid

They know it will upset a ton of people... but it is payback time for those years of "repression"!
 
The government in Southern African has been and always will be full of idiots, losers and bigots. This is a typical display of a dictatorship mentality.
 
Revaluation

What the Legal Experts must do if they see they are going to lose the case for the Community is to get The Council to revalue the properties in the area.
A revaluation now may not be in Council's favour with The Property Market in the doldrums and base your argument on the fact that the area minus the added Security measure would be worth considerably less.

Councils like to barter terms so why cant the community do the same and if Council doesn't want to revalue willingly then get the Court to make it so.

That is a good idea... lower property values = lower rates. Financial loss for the council. It is in their interest to keep the property values high.
 
Look on the bright side Havoc - your rates might come down...:D

Today all the residents in our security village got a letter saying that the Tshwane Municipality is demanding that we and 13 other villages remove all our security structures. Well thats going to the High Court now. Citizens vs Municipality.

These villages did extensive traffic analysis and spent huge amounts to secure everything. There are literally no major roads going through the area. The *municipality* approved the entire plan.

The village has existed for 7 years and has been a huge success. Cost a fortune...but if the police isn't keeping families safe then the community must protect itself.

Now they want to take a +- crime free area and return it to the state it was beforehand. (e.g. Before it was secured my neighbor was raided by 4 dudes with AKs).

So I'm asking myself who the enemy here is. When communities try to combat crime they get punished for it.:confused::mad::( The municipality appears to be making a concerted effort to destroy 14 low crime areas. Why?:confused:
