Essa’s tweet caught the attention of Justice Project SA and has led to her being named Corruption Watch’s Zero of the week.

“When I saw the tweet, I was horrified that anyone could boast about paying a bribe on a social network and equally surprised that any traffic cop would accept a bribe of only R30 for a serious offence for which they are compelled to arrest the perpetrator,” said Justice Project SA chairman Howard Dembovsky.

He said he had contacted the model, who told him the Tweet had been posted to seek “some attention” from her Twitter followers.

According to Dembovsky, Essa cried during the conversation and sounded worried that the rest of her life could be affected by this “stupid prank”.

“She started off the conversation being very apologetic.

“But as she continued it became apparent that she was in a flat panic over the consequences that this could have for her and for her planned career as an attorney,” Dembovsky said.

After their discussion, Essa tweeted: “So sorry for my tweet. I fabricated the story to attract attention, we sometimes all do it and (I am) super-embarrassed.”

Corruption Watch says when it contacted Essa to find out what happened, she denied the incident had taken place.

“Kindly do your research. That didn’t in fact happen. Don’t contact me again,” she tweeted.

Try as I might, I just don't understand why any of us give a damn about people whose only discernible skills are wearing swimwear or walking in a straight line and turning around before they fall off the end of a ramp...
 
LOL dude most people can look good when you have been photoshopped broken. She doesn't look hot to me but most fhm girls are not hot.

Her excuse is priceless though - "I just wanted to attract some attention". I have news for her: putting photos of yourself nearly butt naked on the internet already gets you a lot of attention.

140 in a 60 zone? She should have been arrested on the spot. Sad that R30 is all it takes to corrupt a cop.

Cape Town - Another model has landed herself in hot water, this time for bragging on Twitter about bribing a Johannesburg metro police officer, the Cape Times reported on Wednesday.

FHM model Sabina Essa posted a message reading: "Just got out of a R2500 fine for going 140 in a 60 zone. R30! Bwahahahaha. I LOVE JMPD."

When another Twitter user asked whether she had offered the bribe, she responded with: "I didn't offer, dumb-ass. They asked what I had. Of course, I'm gonna take the offer".

Her comments caught the attention of Justice Project SA CEO Howard Dembovsky, who was horrified that someone could boast about a bribe, and that police officers had not arrested her for a serious offence.

Tweeting for attention

According to the newspaper, he contacted Essa to reprimand her. She apparently told him she posted the tweet for "some attention" from her followers.

Dembovsky said she then panicked about the consequences the tweet would have for her and her planned career as an attorney.

After their discussion, she tweeted: "So sorry for my tweet. I fabricated the story to attract attention, we sometimes all do it and [I am] superembarassed".
