Dunno though man, for the price (new that is) one of the 1.4 turbo Golf 6's might be better.

I'd search for a 2nd hand GTi, Focus ST, Astra Turbo or Mazda 3 MPS before I fork out R240k for a Fiat...

The Bravo is very nice IMO and up in JHB it's especially nice coz of the turbo. Better than a Golf 5 / Focus / Astra IMO.

Not better than a Golf 6 tho.

(I'm comparing new with new though, so it rules out GTIs etc)

Drop me?

In a 110kw Fiat?.. maybe you'll pull away for 10 seconds before I blow past you and your fiat starts to fall to pieces... (if you're going to make a statement about dropping me, at least find out WHAT i drive first)

Fiats are good CHEAP cars... therefore anything over R150k (+-) is expensive for a fiat, regardless of what the specs are.

ok i admit, its a Fiat , and know it cant drop an Golf 6 GTI, (i drove one):p

But the new Fiats are good, they make really good cars. its look different in a line up of golfs.

My specs are

1.4 110kw turbo with over boost, over boost increases KW and toque levels (sport)

Halogen lights
Mags, MP3 CD ect
Racing seats.
sport body kit
follow me lights(turn the corner with you)
8 speakers, 2 subs & 2 tweeters (STD)
ABS, EBD, skid control, Hill hold
Electric steering, very fluid at low speed, stiffens at high speed.
over speed warning
Low profile bridgestones
Very good design, people this its a Massarati (spelling)

I cant find a new golf that comes close to that, and gives the feeling that this car does, in its price range.

I really enjoy it. and its a big leap into the unknown from VW /merc/audi. but i recon VW has lost the plot a bit with the pricing.

but as i said, drive it and you will understand.

Heres the thing about this Fiat, its a very good car, but ........... still not worth it.

Heres an example....

Fiat - 240k base...
Scirocco 1.4T - 280k base....

After three years, youll make up that 40k with the resale value definatley!!!

So which is better, the scirocco or the Fiat? Hmmmmm VW wins again!:)

You should drop FaNix a pm. I know he was selling a low mileage Bravo with a huge amount of extras for like R175k. Now that's a good deal.

Buying a new car now is even stupider than buying a Fiat now....

Seriously though, TB - Fiats have come a long way in the last few years. The Bravo is a very good car, and so underrated by the SA public. Check out CAR mag's 20 000km test of the 1.4 T-jet, they had nothing but praise for it.

Because they had nothing to expect, Fiats have been very bad over the years, a decent one will get alot of praise... remember Italian cars do that to people for some reason...

Historically, Fiat actually made great cars, but it was in the 80's and 90's that they really started making crap. Lately though, they've made some very good cars - Panda, 500 and Bravo (and the Grande Punto to an extent) have been very good and seem to be a lot more reliable than Fiats from a few years back.

Buying used Fiats is actually a smart thing to do IMO thanks to their terrible resale value.
