Howsit guys.. got a question.. hope im posting in the right forum.

So they're laying fibre in my area and im definitely gonna sign up... I just wanna know what line to go with coz its pretty pricey.

I just wanna know if say for instance i take a 20/20 line, i have about 4-5 devices connected to the net at once... My main worry is gaming.. if i want to game whilst, say 3 other devices, are streaming YouTube.. will i be able to game without issue or will i need higher speeds?

Most gaming is latency dependent not pure speed - though speed does have an impact. On a 20/20 line you SHOULD be ok as long as the others are not streaming 4K YT / Netflix. Options would be to go higher speed OR get a decent router that can do quality of service to ensure the gaming device gets priority

Ok im Definitely not that tech savvy.. what would be a good router? And how best to set it up?

Coz i think the router will be provided by the isp, i dont have the choice

If you re getting one from the ISP then its ISP dependent - most SHOULD be able to handle it though - perhaps before you sign get the options from them on what they can provide and we can see how to help you set it up? Basic QoS shouldn't be too taxing / complex - its when you want to do more intricate things that it can get hairy

You think a 20/20 line would suffice? Qos to prioritize bandwidth right?

Hey guys!
Finally got my fibre installed.. went with a 20/20 line and got a Nokia g-240w-c router.. can someone help me setup QoS for my ps4?

You having issues? Note older PS4 have terrible Wi-Fi cards, do check first if ethernet solved the problem if you're having one.

well im not having a problem, i just want to prioritise my gaming bandwith...

PS4 is connected using a LAN cable..

i just dont want it that if im playing and wife and kid using the internet, it slows down my gaming connection

One of our links had a 20/10 line and we had like 2 families running off it. So around 6-9 people. Using Lan cables where possible can help a ton for console devices that don't have great wireless cards the same goes for PC's it's just better to run Lan cables. You should be fine with a 10MB line but if you want more speed then go for a 20/10 package.

As for QoS you don't really need to... I mean a fiber pipe is able to handle quite a few people at the same time, also depends on the router. Never knew Nokia actually made routers so yea, would maybe invest in something more tapered to the environment you have. If you're a network genius then go Mikrotik and if not go for ubnt or tenda's tplink etc.

Also ping isn't really effected on fiber as much as adsl did when the whole family jumped onto the net

3 devices streaming at 480p should be OK but not all 3 doing 720p. You will lag.

If you haven't noticed any issues, you probably aren't having any. Gaming uses near no bandwidth, a couple of hundred Kbps for the most "intensive" games like CSGO, most other games are in the tens of Kbps.

On your router there should be something along the lines of QoS or quality of service, giving exact model we could probably point it out, but usually it's enabled by default.

Everthing will do it in bursts, will generally be fine. And 3 doing 1080p for Netflix and YouTube are around 12Mbps average Bitrate, would still be fine.

If i go on youtube and set it to 1080p my brother will lag on my 20/20 line.

I got a "A" result for bufferbloat.
I see a switched up the two quality D and bufferbloat A but it definitely shouldn't happen, one 1080P stream making you lag on a 20Mbps line should not be a thing.

Well ive only tested it tonight.. while playing dbfz, wife watched a video on YT, and for a few seconds i got spike in frame delays, but it stabilised... And came down...

The router is a Nokia G-240W-C.. i logged into it.. but couldnt find anything that said QoS.. lotsa abbreviations, (no idea what they meant).. but no QoS
