Are there any ISPs that offer 20mb fibre without a fair use policy?

As long as you avoid the big incumbents you should be fine. Most of the "big" names have FUP whether its hidden or otherwise. And by incumbent I specifically mean the providers that are not purely fibre i.e. offering LTE/3G/4G, ADSL, etc. along with fibre.

I'm with Mweb and they've not had a fup since 2018

Pretty sure they still do, limits just depend on what network you're on.

If you pick an Openserve fiber provider, good chance there's an FUP, most others don't.

On frogfoot or octotel, if in the western cape, atomic access has been pretty good for me. Otherwise try out cape connect.

Not on mine, but I'm on Vumatel.

Have RSAWEB at work on a business fibre account via their own city fibre and it's honestly utter trash i would not recommend it to anyone there is 100% shaping involved when i am alone in the office on a 50/50 line i can't even sometimes stream a Twitch stream on 1080P while at home i got Cool Ideas + Vumatel and can say i have never seen or felt being shaped or throttled.

Why not move the business line to us as well?

Happy with Websqaud so far :) its a breath of fresh air after dealing with vodacom :)

1) Because i am not the boss and i don't get to make these decisions even though i recommend them and 2) We have a 1 or 2 year contract with them so kind of stuck with them and their useless service levels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If i am not mistaken it only some ISP's on Openserve that has FUP and Vodacom i know has FUP basically on all there packages, i will not choose and ISP with a FUP. there was an ISP the other day that dropped the FUP on Openserve but i cant remeber who it was

they can go get ****ed with that 200gb fup on a 10mb line. idiots... the green people

busy looking through fup's currently....ridiculous really... with streaming 200gb will be gone quick quick...

Yip i agree 200gb is not enough we stream and download an use about 1.6 to 2.2TB every month on a 100mb line, the entire house is connected

Axxess

Premium Uncapped (DSL and Fibre) - Axxess Protocol Manager
(Fibre Service Discontinued. No longer for sale to direct clients.)
The Axxess Protocol Manager is used to provide all uncapped users on our network with the best possible internet experience. During peak network times, we give priority to real time services (such as browsing, email, commercial streaming such as Netflix, Showmax etc), high bandwidth services such as NNTP, Peer-to-Peer and Torrents (and similar but not limited to) will receive less priority.

Clients deemed to be continuously uploading/downloading or using the service for unattended automated processes will be managed by the Axxess Protocol Manager. The Axxess Protocol Manager may be used to manage clients by rate limiting (slowing down speed) and limiting or preventing service using specific protocols or ports. We reserve the right to use the Axxess Protocol Manager to manage the integrity of our network should network capacity not be available at any time, we assure our clients that we will do this in a responsible manner should the need arise. Any user that is found attempting to bypass or circumvent the Axxess Protocol Manager will be suspended and could have their service cancelled.

Uncapped DSL and Home Uncapped Fibre – Axxess Protocol Manager
(Fibre Service Discontinued. No longer for sale to direct clients.)
These services are managed according to the last 7 days usage projected to 30 days as well as the available capacity on the network at all times.

There are predefined thresholds set and when exceeded the account speed will be managed down to a maximum of 50% of the account speed. Should the demand on the network exceed available capacity these thresholds may be managed more aggressively by the Axxess Protocol Manager and differ to the table below.

The thresholds per account speed are:

SpeedThreshold
1Mbps20GB
2Mbps40GB
4Mbps80GB
5Mbps80GB
8Mbps100GB
10Mbps120GB
15Mbps160GB
20Mbps200GB
30Mbps225GB
40Mbps250GB
50Mbps250GB
100Mbps300GB

Shaping and prioritisation

  • 1 Pure Fibre packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled - There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

not sure if you can get 1000mbs on ADSL - maybe it should read uncapped ADSL/Fibre

5. Uncapped ADSL Monthly Thresholds, Throttling, Shaping and Bandwidth Priority
5.1 Home Uncapped Packages have a threshold (based on a 30 day rolling window) after which speeds could be subject to shaping and throttling based on network demand. Premium and Business Uncapped Packages may also be subject to shaping when demand on the network is high. Our aim is to apply as little (or no) shaping or throttling to our Uncapped accounts, where network resources allow. In the case of increases in demand, throttling and shaping will be applied to Home Uncapped accounts first, then shaping to Premium Uncapped accounts. Shaping will only be applied to Business Uncapped accounts in cases of extreme network congestion.

5.2 Home Uncapped Packages are subject to throttling only when a user has reached their monthly threshold. Throttling is only applied during peak demand periods, when required, to manage overall network demand. Users who have exceeded their threshold will experience unthrottled speeds during off-peak hours. Premium Uncapped Packages are not subject to throttling or monthly thresholds, and will enjoy full speed real-time services under all normal circumstances, but may be subject to shaping of downloads only if the network is under strain. Business Uncapped Packages are not generally shaped, but can be subject to shaping, should the network experience high levels of demand. Business Uncapped accounts also have a user controllable feature via ClientZone to prioritise non-P2P traffic on their account to ensure business-critical services always get the highest priority.

5.3 Home, Premium and Business Uncapped users will be able to access significant amounts of data, regardless of whether shaping or throttling is applied (as per 1 and 2). For examples of the amount of usage possible, visit the Afrihost Uncapped Leaderboard.

5.4 Monthly Thresholds:
  • 1 Mbps: 20GB
  • 2 Mbps: 40GB
  • 4 Mbps: 80GB
  • 5 Mbps: 80GB
  • 8 Mbps: 100GB
  • 10 Mbps: 120GB
  • 20 Mbps: 200GB
  • 40 Mbps: 250GB
  • 50 Mbps: 250GB
  • 100 Mbps: 300GB
  • 1000 Mbps: 1000GB

WHAT THE FUP IS A FUP?
We currently offer two uncapped categories on Openserve - Uncapped, and Uncapped Premium. Our Uncapped packages carry a FUP threshold (see below), while our Uncapped Premium packages have no threshold.
Please Note: We only apply our FUP on our Uncapped packages on the Openserve infrastructure. No other providers have a FUP threshold.
Good to Know:
If you are on one of our packages which carries a FUP, your usage between midnight and 06:00 am every day does not affect your rolling FUP threshold. So, if you are planning downloads make sure you schedule them for these times, and they won't have an impact on your FUP status.
