Good day.

Why is it that, fibre company's don't want to supply fibre to small towns. Look I know trenching etc cost alot of moola.

Here is my example. We have Fibre CO. that has a back Haul running trough our town, and then we have a MTN back Haul as well.

In our Telkom exchange there is already fibre, they supplied the S.A.P, Post Office, Municipality and PEP Store.

I am 20Meter Across, of the S.A.P and connection box is 17 meters away from me. Yet no one can help me with fibre. Yes we still have DSL, but we run on old marconi Router. I get on a 20mb line max 13mb, so money wasted.

Isn't there, at least a Fibre Company that can help us out with fibre?

All of our shops is in one main street and 90% needs internet. Telkom is Utterly bananas.

I would pay for the trenching to my place, or what ever.

If someone knows someone, that know a friend that knows someone. please Any help would be appreciated.

We do how ever have rain now, but we need a Nat service, no cctv etc on rain.

Thanks Guys appreciate it.

Where are you based?
I am in the same boat, I was quoted R360k to trench and run fibre from the Telkom Exchange to my premises, 284 meters, literally across the road.

However, this is for Wholesale services not residential or business.

I am in the Free-State Area, Ventersburg. I just thought may, another ISP can help. Not Telkom.

I don't think we have the same luxury here in SA of remotely situated ISP's to help you out (even if all the residents get involved), so that's what you're probably up against.
Maybe you can find a WISP (wireless internet service provider) in your area you can talk to, prepared to branch out into fibre installation ?

Villagers dig their own superfast broadband network

So a group of residents volunteered to connect all the cottages by digging trenches and laying the cable themselves, with the help of rural broadband provider Broadband 4 Rural North (B4RN).

Farmers dig miles of trenches to install broadband in rural Welsh hamlet

See if maybe @Frogfoot Fibre can assist as they build on a node, maybe if you cant get enough interest they will build there as DFA is already running thru the town i believe and they would be the only fibre provider.

Welcome to my world. I live in a small town Naboomspruit Limpopo and the fiber ring runs from the N1 highway to the Post Office where the Openserve Exchange is connecting the Post Office, SAP, and all the Banks like ABSA, FNB and Standard Bank. We have a shop in Euphorbia Park next to OK Grocer and the fiber runs past the Centre, and all along the residential houses and connecting the various new cellphone towers, but residents and shops cannot get access to the fiber as it is not for residential or business use. I would love to get fiber and I believe lots op residents and businessess will take it up in a flash. The fiber line literally runs past my house in 5th street past my driveway!

If there is a fiber company willing to help us out, it will be greatly appreciated. We have Rain coverage and it is working good - average speeds of 30mbps - and Vodacom and MTN is good, but not great. I would love to have fiber!!

This could be my town - Sedgefield. Openserve laid some fibre here and there two years ago. Then they left. No FTTH. Why bother?
