Hi All,

I'm looking at upgrading my ADSL lines here at work, at the moment when are using 4 x 4MB ADSL lines from Telkom and using the 4MB accounts with Mweb for R539.

At the moment speeds on these lines are ridiculously slow, getting a ping of round 500 and actual download speeds are averaging round 10 to 20Kbps.

When querying with TELKOM they blame Mweb and Mweb blames Telkom so i get nowhere.

I'm looking at migrating to a Fibre Optic line but i'm unsure on the capabilities of the fibre line, will i be able to drop the 3 lines and go with one 1MB fiber line and what are the speeds and up-time like on the fiber lines when compared to ADSL?

Thanks any help will be kindly appreciated!

Have you tried other ISP accounts on the ADSL line, because if it is still the same with the other accounts then its Telkom if not then it is MWEB, just gives you some fire power when looking for help.

With regards to fiber, it is going to cost you a leg, but what ever speed you chose it will be more reliable than ADSL but not necessary faster.

Just tried that! its definitely a Telkom problem just spent the last hour on the phone with them with no success..they re-created my ports, reset the ports, drop my line speed etc etc etc! but still nothing has help they are going to send a technician to check the exchange when a technician becomes available.

I saw Neotel has a 1MB Fibre Optic line + uncapped unshaped account for R1600 ex vat! that single cost is what im paying for my 3 4MB ADSL lines and accounts, which is why i wanted to know if i could drop the Telkom lines and accounts and migrate to the one optic line.
