Does anyone have a complete list of Fibre providers in SA? And possibly who the biggest players are (in terms of active subscribers)...

Vumatel
Fibrehoods
Dfa
Greencom
Telkom
Mtn
Vodacom
123net
Mweb
Smart village
Linkafrica
Screamer
Sadv
This is what I could find. This is not the ISPs, just the fibre providers. There are much more companies, but haven't noticed them yet.

You won't get any accurate active subscriber numbers from any of the service providers.

At best you might find a statitic about "houses passed".

MWeb are an ISP and use other providers' networks.

DFA don't provider retail consumer fiber products.

Thanks for the response... Any idea of :
- which of these players are making the most traction?
- are all these players laying their own fibre networks?
- overall fibre penetration in SA / estimated number of subscribers (FTTH or FTTB)?

I read on Telkom's website that they have 215 000 homes and businesses connected http://www.telkom.co.za/today/shop/futurehood/....this seems pretty high??

Sadv forces you through their own ISP, so they're both a provider of fibre and ISP

Also, evotel

Doing a lot of research can be tiring heh?

We know as much as you know really. Contact these fibre providers and get their feedback

Metrofibre Networkx is a Fibre provider and an ISP, they then partner with a Sales and Marketing tech company to resell their product.

I'm trying to create a complete list on the Lynnwood Fibre Initiative website at http://www.lynnwoodfibre.com/technical-details/ but I unfortunately have no clue who the biggest players are. To me it boils down to what each can offer (price vs service) in my area irrespective of how big of a player they are.

What so you mean by biggest? Most connections? Largest total bandwidth of connections? Most km of Fibre laid?

The proper you need to look at first are Telkom, Vumatel and MTN. Also Cybersmart.

Anyone else has tiny coverage.

Edited.

Added Cybersmart.
