Hi guys ur advice is appreciated i have 500mbps fibre the router is in my office but the range around the rest of the rooms is very weak i was told to get an extender please can u adiise which will be the best extender to buy for a strong signal and something with the latest features so i wont need to upgrade later also without costing me an arm and a leg

Many thanks

Eange extenders generally arebt great to be honest and youre likely to be more frustrated. If you have some budget maybe look at an entry level mesh system, e.g. the TP Link Deco range

If you have more budget then look to run ethernet cable to the extremes of the house and install access points there

Thanks Mzezman im a newbie to this can u explain how this mesh works and advice on which to get

Many thanks

No problem - the main mesh router would replace the router you have and thay would establish the connection to your ISP.

Typically mesh systems have 1 or 2 extra 'nodes' that act as access points, these then connect back to the main one either by cable (ethernet) or wireless and expand the range of the wifi

User devices then (seamlessly) roam betwen the mesh nodes to connect to the one with the best signal, so you would seldom experience drops in connectivity

I installed two Ubiquiti access points and ran ethernet cable through the roof to my office. They work wonders. Have not touched them in two years. They are installed on the ceiling and are not an eyesore at all.

Would strongly recommend this solution over a mesh network, range extender or powerline system. I have experience with all of the above and they generally work well until something goes wrong, and then they can become a headache.

I used 2 UPA-AC-LR accesspoints
