The thing with an investment is that you cannot actually calculate feasibility, you can only approximate. did Steve Jobs calculate that his company would become fortune 500 or did he actually invest his time/money and effort into the idea that his product is built upon.

If you do not give the people what they want. they will not support your idea or your product(yes Jobs said that.)

It would seem that the investors are expecting too much.

Hypothetically speaking. what if we had 290 signups.. and 290 contracts. would the investment still have been feasible? because that's a 100% prerequisite rate. by stating that "Different towns & suburbs of differing sizes and populations will always potentially have different requirements as feasibility will always differ". my question is this. why does all expansion plan areas require 290 signups instead of differing numbers for different size towns&suburbs? that seems a bit misleading

or is it because the signups(interest) tripled what was required(in a short amount of time) that the requirements for feasibility now increased by approximately 25%

If the investment is actually carried out and built from the ground up. you cannot expect 100% feasibility and 0% risk.(my personal opinion) I can pretty much guarantee. if you just trenched and connected 50 people. then you will have issues dealing with the contracts streaming in due to word of mouth(providing that the service is good)

and if you tick off the possible customers who were extremely interested and optimistic you can expect a full scale social media riot.

My suggestion consists of 3 key words. Invest, build, succeed.

We do agree with a lot of things you guys are pointing out, and were it 100% up to us, we would be doing things a lot differently :(

For once I agree with him. None of these issues were pointed out. We were given the impression they'll roll out to the interested parties once the required signups have been met. Now they want almost as many people taking it as those that are interested. Never going to happen. If this is the requirement for Secunda what will the requirement be for the whole of Brakpan?

This needs to go to the media
That may be a bit premature though. Let's give their investor a chance to reconsider and if they don't we just don't continue signups, stop signing contracts, and don't pay for construction.

For once I agree with you too ;). No need to rush to the media yet, maybe they are just testing the water to see if they can push some extra signups to get their contracts in. Lets wait to get some more feedback.

All I've seen are pictures of a pop up store....on their facebook. And tweets with a whole bunch of trivia. No targeting, no going after people who expressed interest. Shoddy.

Just pm'ed this to someone "It may actually be good. I hope they lose this mysterious investor and get someone else. I'm sure a company like Google will be interested in investing."

I have to say this is turning out worse than I expected so far. 123Net hasn't made any good impression and is looking really bad. Does anybody remember GTS?

my contract is signed and sent. if I don't Receive a scheduled installation date by "End December"
I may as well just keep my telkom line.

I have been trying to get more interest in 123net, by spreading the word to anyone I think would be interested In Internet. Just not sure if I can send a copy of the blank contract to said people
