What fibre speed is good enough for gaming and simultaneous netflix streaming?

Could you game say csgo and stream (sd or hd?) videos (how many?) at the same time on a 10mbps line?

Mweb's 10/2mbps @R399 looks very affordable.
A friend of mine went from telkom lte to telkom fibre (lite), but performance was still pretty poor.

Theres a reason for Telkom being 1 of the worst rated ISP

i regret everyday that i took the LTE package and not having the patience for Fibre to arrive, which it now has, 6 months after i commited to this 24 month death trap

Are you talking about 1 concurrent Netflix stream? (HD is fine but if its 2/3 then you'll need to set it to SD)

If so then 10Mbps is fine but the moment you start adding devices like smartphones, tablets, tv's and laptops you'll start to see the limitations.

Think of your fibre connection as a highway, downloading and torrenting is a standard lane for cars, gaming, streaming ie (Netflix etc) and voip services are buses and have a dedicated lane as they are prioritized.

Now add traffic to that highway. The bus lane will always be fine until the highway becomes so full that it is being utilized to the max. (Cars are cutting into the bus lane). Uploading large files will affect your ping to servers.

If you are serious about your gaming and its something that you spend several hours on a week then I would say go for 10/10 or 20/5.

I understand that price is an issue for some people but remember you aren't having to pay that nasty phone line like you had to every month to Telkdom.

How many people are in your household?, in order to provide you with the best solution we need as much information as possible, how many devices do you plan on connecting and what they are used for.

Lack of information will just lead to wasted time, money and leave you frustrated.

10Mbps is good for one or the other, not both simultaneously.

We have several devices but most are offline or in standby when Im gaming. At most, I have one maybe two other people streaming youtube / netflix (all set to SD). At the moment I run 100gb capped over LTE and can (mostly) game while the others are streaming. Sometimes the ping spikes which can be annoying but it is rare. The R399 mweb fibre offer is less than what I'm paying now for the lte (R549), with the potential for much nicer ping but at the cost of much less bandwidth (albeit much more consistent).

And what do they have price wise for what you are currently paying for LTE? You can go for the 10/2 and always upgrade to a faster speed but personally I would recommend going for 20Mbps if possible.

The price gaps are usually quite small between the higher packages, I'd say go with the highest speed package you can afford personally. If you want to watch netflix while gaming I'd say a minimum of 20mbps. The latency thing is always ISP dependant and area dependant, I have seen some fibre lines getting as much as 200ms Blizzard France, while some even here in Durban can go as low as 160ms. In CPT, I have seen people get as low as ~140ms.

Are you near a telkom tower, or on the vodacom tower with the lte.
