Just got an email pointing me to this address: http://www.fibrecheck.co.za/

Not sure what they are supposed to be doing with this website, but I am definitely not putting all my personal details on some website.

Any know anything of this?

Looks like someone is pulling all the availability options from all the fibre providers so that people can see what is available in their area.

Nice concept... im going to see how well it works.

Put it in, you know you want to :p

:D

I actually put in the following:
Name: Test
Email: [email protected]
Number: 0844445554
Address: some random address

It took me to another page saying that a consultant would phone me back, but in the meantime they want more info. Then they asked for the exact same info again, with the only difference being they want to know what kind of connectivity you are looking for (ADSL, VDSL, Fibre, etc).

Not sure what the point of the website is. Seems they want to look for the best connectivity for you in your area. Only question being: Why? I can do that myself without giving some random third party my personal details.

OK Don't bother this is what happens when you ad your details

A DSL Telecom consultant will make contact with you in order to further ascertain your specific needs.
They will check your coverage/feasibility for desired services.
You will then be provided with quotes from the different vendors services that are available to you.

I'm not interested in talking to some one. I want to see what is available.

I think they save you the time of going to all the different providers individually.

Their aim is probably to get lists of in interested parties and then approach providers as well.

Yup - if they took you to some kind of coverage map it would have been awesome, but I am not interested in playing the "What can I help you with sir" game.

He is going to phone around and come to the same conclusion I did months ago. I am stuck with my 4mb line for the foreseeable future.

Great concept, but only for areas that already have fibre coverage. Areas not yet covered are kind of stuck with Telkom.

click on a ISP link in the best Sellers section and see where you go , i don't think this is legit ,looks dodgy to me , so my info will not go into this site.

double opt in ....becareful

Came across this one the other day. Check their expansion plans

They are rolling out far too slowly. The highest Cape Town region has been Blouberg and that number has been in the 80's for a long time now, about 2 months since I started watching it. You're better off going for Telkom/WA/Mweb/Vox then waiting for these guys.

Not anymore. They also said they would most likely roll out in blog erg after they finish up secunda even if they don't get enough sign ups on the website.
