Fibreglass fuel tank

Anybody know if i use standard of the shelf fiberglass and resin to make a fuel tank for a motorcycle if it will last?

I'm workin on a old bike i want to make a cafe racer from and i'm likin the coffin style tanks but i'm not likin the price tags so i want to get my hands dirty with some diy.

From some quick searches it seems you would need to seal it with sloshing sealer. Also keep in mind in an accident etc fibreglass probably will see petrol being spilt

I figured it would need to be treated but couldn't find clear info. I see the sealers on ebay isn't cheap, i'll have to phone around tomorrow and see if it's available localy.

Maybe it's time to invest in that mig welder and make it from sheet metal.

Ambitious but I think it Is better to get your dirty on something else.
