So I've never owned or driven one of these eco boost powered cars before and have only heard [good things] about them.

I'm starting to itch and want to trade in my car for something else. Anyway, long story short is one of the cars that caught my eye was the Fiesta Ecoboost Titanium Powershift...quite a name.

Mostly I do town driving but once or twice a year I do go on longer distance drives. Question is basically if that 1.0 liter engine is good enough to haul two people and some luggage all the way to Cape Town and back to JHB without issues or it being a painful drive. Are these engines really that good?

EDIT: No, I don't care for the ST

So reading that it seems it should be fine for my needs...

Guess I'll go test drive it. Is there a new fiesta or facelift coming anytime soon?

They are really good and happy on the open road.

If you intend keeping it for a number of years be aware that the transmission oil needs to be replaced and that this cost a lot of money.
The dealer charges more than R6000.00. For oil, filter and labour.

92 kW that is quite a bit of power , more than any thing in its class that i am aware of .
Sorry that is the manual , but why would they down grade the motor for the automatic .

It's a mystery

I've got the manual. 2014 ecoboost titanium spec. That 92kw is great. Never feels undepowered.

Explain why?

Explain why?
Because the question was specifically about the EcoBoost engine/car. It is inevitable that somebody would come in here and suggest the ST and I thought I'd spare us...but, alas

:D

I'm not a speedster and don't see the point of them to be honest. 0-100 in just over 10s is fine with me. If it does turn out to be the better car for my needs is give it a second look though.

I drive the ST but never really hammer it. What I enjoy is the power when I do need it, and the brilliant fuel consumption.

Since we're on the subject of the ST: hows the suspension for every day driving (and be honest! ). My friend used to own the Polo GTI and my spine nearly shattered.
