FIFA Puskas Awards

Is This The Reason Oscarine Lost The Puskas Award?

It was a disappointing moment for the entire nation on Monday evening when it was announced that Olivier Giroud had won the Puskas Award instead of Baroka FC's Oscarine Masuluke. But it seems the reason why the goalkeeper lost may have now been identified. Can you guess what it is?

Disappointment, confusion and sadness were among the emotions that swept the country on Monday night as Arsenal striker Giroud stepped on to the stage to retrieve his Puskas Award. However, it seems a lot of anger is being directed at South Africa's biggest cellular network companies, as fans claim that high data costs are to blame for a lack of votes for the Bakgaga hero.

The chance of a non-UEFA based player winning a public vote is extremely low. If FIFA release the stats I'd expect Giroud got over 80% of the vote.
