Was just reading the newspaper and according to it, FIFA's web site is full of wrong information regarding South Africa.

1 example is that it says that tourists are welcome to take a walk from the city centre to Canal Walk for a amazing shopping experience.

TALK A WALK?!?!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!! Good luck with that one!
There is more and people have tried to contact FIFA but nothing has been done.
I don't have INT access but I'd love to double check this myself - even just to piss myself laughing! :D

There is a huge amount of incorrect info on the FIFA site...

There is an assumption that the size of the country and cities is small....

They talk of spending some the morning in the KZN battlefields, and then an afternoon in the Berg and going to uMlazi in the evening... :wtf:....

The Mai Mai Market is the oldest market in Johannesburg and is a great place to discover traditional remedies
bwhahahahaaahaaaha... can't wait for the reaction of tourists when told to stretch a sheep's scrotem over their heads and wait for it to rot off as a cure for persistent headaches

another trouser soaker:
...make your way to your first obvious destination - the Kruger National Park. The park will easily consume your whole day as it stretches for some 350km.

In my experience, from living in the UK for 2 years, Europeans have a very... distorted idea of not only what south africa looks like but also what goes on here. Myself and a friend where once asked if we had ever killed a lion to which my friend replied; "killed! No never i had one that sleeps on my bed" and the woman actually believed him.

They also dont understand the idea that from Bloemfontein to De Doorns there is nothing, just a 1000odd KM of nothing. This world cup is going to serve as a rude wake up call to many tourists me thinks.

Looking forward to watching the people walk from Canal Walk to the CPD.

Apparently it is difficult to grasp that you can't go on a day trip from Pretoria to Cape Town.

I've met a Austrian who went to the Kruger Park, just for the day, from Pretoria. So, doable, but not fun.
