I am highly confused as to how this whole ticket process is running. I have tried to get tickets to various matches both in Durban and Johannesburg. Opening (Showed SOLD OUT, Over counter at ticketing centers was also sold out) but yet from what i could see there were about 5000 empty seats still. Even the commentators said there was an attendance of 89000, yet the game was sold out? I have tried to get tickets to the game in Durban tomorrow as well but they are "sold out" I can almost guarantee you there will be empty seats tomorrow. Whats the deal with this?

I think FIFA also differentiate between "sold out" and ticket sales "closed". The former means no tickets are available to the public (but there may still be some corporate ones not accounted for yet) whereas closed means nothing available. It does seem stupid to let those corporate ones go to waste but such is the FIFA way.

the attendance shown (at around the end of 2nd half) was 84 700 which is about... 10k short of capacity....
however, if you walked around the stadium (which i did
) and took a look at the seats id say 1 - 2 % was empty as opposed to 10% (10k seats)
The seats that were empty, were the VVIP seats which Id saw about 1/3 was filled. The box seats could have also contributed to that but its hard to estimate seeing as you can't really look into them from the public areas.

Capacity at Soccer City for WC is 87K not 94K (Soccer City absolute maximum is 91K). There are less seats available because of the Media Tribunes on the upper main stand.
The whole ticketing system is real nightmare! I am totally absorbed into the world cup. Gonna travel all over to see games. But for the last week I've been trying to get get tickets for Germany Ghana. From last saturday the tickets were shown as available but you go in it, then you can't complete the transaction. Now the only way i can get a ticket is from scalpers on the web selling them at 100 - 300% of the price.FIFA needs to look at the ticketing system... I am really hoping some tickets open up and i can get at least 1, maybe 2....
And now the newest thing that FIFA is doing is that games that have been showed as sold out is suddenly have tickets available...eg last night's ENG vs USA, and now all of a sudden all 4 category's for algeria vs slovenia... Probably some ticketing agency holding onto the tickets way too long... This will end up causing empty seats!!

I think people also want to make a quick buck. on saturday the pe match 8000 seats were empty, i dont think 8000 people couldn't make it. i think some people bought a whole bunch of tickets and they are now selling it for triple the price
