Fifa world cup Tickets

So I just registered on the Fifa website for tickets for the world cup. It's a lucky draw but you have to enter your credit card details and if you selected they deduct the money.

Was shocked at the amounts they asking, everything is priced in USD. Dont we as South Africans get a pref rate compared to oversea's customers???

:( On one hand now hoping I do get selected in the draw and get the tickets, on the other worrying about the 2400 USD being deducted from my account ..................

All in all you cant not go for the opening ceremony or final of the world cup in your home country .............can you?

When you apply for tickets as a south african the prices will be showd in Rands. Its cheaper then if you take the USD price at todays exchange rate

Nope didnt change into rands ......... Hope it is capped at R7 though.

Mine was in rands.

About the credit card details, they won't deduct the amount even if you "win" tickets, they send you a confirmation letting you know your application was successful. The site shows which tickets you won and which you didn't and then there's a button at the bottom of the screen that asks if you'd like to pay for the tickets or not.

Mine was in Rands. At the first stage of the buying process they ask whether you are an SA resident.

Also the cheapest tickets(category 4) is only available for SA residents.

I have to nag here after reading a News24 report. To me it's a complete farce buying tickets in this lottery as per the report

http://www.news24.com/News24/Columnists/Georgina_Guedes/0,,2-1630-2022_2480503,00.html

"So, what the average South African is being asked to do is to buy a ticket to watch a game that could end up being between Toga and Iran, because it's in their city."

I want to watch particular teams, but who knows if these teams will be playing at Greenpoint Stadium, and I'm not paying money for some match featuring Toga etc.

And i'm not paying for 3-5 tickets for the country I want to follow where they may not even feature at my local stadium at all.

Without knowing the results of the group draw, then it is a lottery, and therefore a gamble

There are different stages. Second,4th and final stage are first come first serve. If you wanna wait till you know what teams are playing wait till the third, fourth and fifth stage.

This is way it has worked with wc's for a long time. It worked fine for the people of france, germany, south korea and japan I don't see how we are "special" that the system needs to be changed for us. The only way you will get a poor game to watch is if you apply only for 1 game or if you are one of the most unlucky people on earth.

Our complaints are valid and they should be taken into consideration.

This lottery scheme is the dumbest way to buy tickets, ever.

Just a correction. The outcome of the lottery doesn't mean you are obliged to pay for the tickets. You have up until next year to pay for them...and you can choose not to. So applying for and actually being lucky enough to qualify for some packages and tickets but only realise in December (when all the qualifiers are done) that your team isn't playing or is playing far from where you are, you can choose to not pay for the tickets (and they'll go back into the lottery).

Really? If you are completely certain then I'll happily join the lottery. Do you have a linky for fact HypoThesis please?

As said before if you don't like the lottery style you can buy during second, fourth and final stages. Then its first come first serve. They give you the option if you don't like the lottery style.;)

I spoke to some one at the ticketing office (contact details via fifa.com). They say that for the first stage ticketing, as soon as you're awarded the tickets you will be charged immediately for them. You have no second chance to accept or decline the allocation, this was for online purchases.
