Fighting online trolls with bots

The wonder of internet connectivity can turn into a horror show if the people who use online platforms decide that instead of connecting and communicating, they want to mock, insult, abuse, harass and even threaten each other. In online communities since at least the early 1990s, this has been called “trolling.”

More recently it has been called cyberbullying. It happens on many different websites and social media systems. Users have been fighting back for a while, and now the owners and managers of those online services are joining in.

@biometrics ^That is you and it hurts.

Calling people a troll has become a form of bullying. The term is often misused to silence people who have differing opinions and it amounts to bullying and a way of forcing people to either be silent or leave a discussion, even a forum entirely.

There are a few genuine trolls out there but their actions are easily identifiable as disparate from forum members who are engaged in vigorous debate. Unfortunately vigorous debate isn't always welcomed, even by the people who started the discussion, and the word 'troll' is used to shut-down opposing view points.

What is clear is that conformity is desired over all else and people will use whatever is at their disposal to force conformity. Moderators are terrified of debate and shut it down. Long standing 'powerful' members hate having their opinions contradicted and even on the internet people collect in little cliques and do not like their little fiefdoms disturbed.

It might be human nature, but it's still pathetic.

would be interesting of the bot kept the trolls busy, direct(hijack) them to a fake site/chat room once identified.

troll thinks its trolling, meanwhile...

Oh so you can dish out insults in TK but can't take it yourself. :erm:
You know full well your the one who started this. Not once have I initiated an insult to you. It's always as a response to one of your insults.

You know this.

No we've had a show down you won, I won't enter TK as promised.

On Twitter the definition of a troll is anyone who disagrees with you. Twitter is so full of pathetic wets, it is astounding.
