Hi there.

I've suddenly encountred a problem where as I can't access/see other shared files on the network... Even when I try to access my own share files via my network location, it gives the error "the network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows help."

I've surfed a lot of forums & tried everything. My TCP/IP netbios is enabled. I don't have any firewalls active. It just happened.

I can ping the other pc's & access shared files in my internet browsers. I can even send files from my pc to another & other way around with chat & lan communication programs.

I just cannot see my shares or any other shares on the network...

Can anybody please help me? This is extremely annoying!!!

It's a long shot, but the anonymous access setting in the registry might be wrong. Open regedit, navigate to HKLM (local machine) > System > CurrentControlSet > Control > Lsa.

At the end - restrictanonymous should be 0. Ignore the restrictanonymoussam. Then reboot and try again.

Also have a look in "Administrative Tools" -> "Event Viewer" -> select "System" and check to see if there are any red "X's" - this might indicate where the problem may lie.

Recently my PC started losing internet and LAN connection every 48 hours or so - it turned out to be a Master Browser problem where the other PC's on my network were announcing themselves and causing havoc - this effectively shut down the Computer Browser service and the Server service - no connection

This showed up in my Events viewer...

Managed to fix it by disabling the Computer Browser service on the other PC's and problem is solved now...

Post some feedback on your event viewer and let's see how we can help. :)
