Looking for advice please:

Hi any Cloud Solution computer boffins, Network Database Management Specialists, IT Techs & any person that has personally experienced cloud storage frustrations or joy, based on the below criteria, I please need your best option/s poll vote, some technical info & hints/advice or anything that might guide me in choosing a local hard copy / cloud data storage system.

đź”´Crucial non-negotiable needs:
🔹Must run easily on Google Chrome, if web based
🔹Must Run on Windows 11, if app/program
🔹As near to 0 data loss, need 0 file loss
🔹Absolutely no lessening of upload quality for storage, especially videos
🔹Minimal spam, advertisements, add-ons, freebies and junk from other companies wanting to plug.
🔹Total ease of use, easy GUI
🔹No complicated nonsense or processes
🔹Reliable, Trustworthy, Secure, Private
🔹Professional, sleek, uncluttered look & feel.

I've struggled with SATA PC & Laptop hard drives & externals for years and had data loss... have not yet tried SSD though.

Then since trying the total chaotic overwriting mess Google Drive's "for Desktop" total PC file takeover system, everything became a total version-confusing, file-disappearing and replacing newer versions with older ones syncing nightmare.I don't want ANYTHING to SYNC itself because it's just never trustworthy. I want to do manual backups on my own, preferably.

Not so important:
🔶Monthly Costs
🔶Complicated security or password systems
🔶Multi device syncing
🔶A Desktop app or program together with the web client

Which one or more of these do you trust with your files, keeping them safe and secure, yet easily accessible. Zero file loss, peace of mind?

Thank you

What solution did ChatGPT suggest to you?
Almost all the brands were equally suggested and I was given a very "mirrored" response as usual with AI, it really just repeats obvious facts and common sense back to you that was in your question to begin with. I'd like real human input from actual human users who feel the same frustration I do.

Why not just run Duplicati and have it back up to multiple free platforms? (I think thats what you are trying to do.

I also agree on the gdrive thing. Recent experience has taught me not to trust it. Dont trust its syncing abilities. I use Duplicati and backup my data to multiple clouds.

I have been using Azure Blob storage.

Works with Chrome but has better solutions like the Azure Storage Explorer and AZCopy.exe for automation.

You can set soft delete and even do geo-redundant storage if you want more that the LRS storage of 3 copies in 1 data centre.

If you want older transfer protocols, it even supports SFTP.

Username and password for authentication, fook it you can even do keys:

Azure storage accounts use two primary types of keys: storage account access keys and Shared Access Signature (SAS) tokens.

There are several approaches but seeing that you want "simple" i suggest:
- Synology NAS (simple user interface / accessible from anywhere / redundant storage)
- Backup to S3 Storage (immutable if required)

Slightly more complex but more redundant option (will be much cheaper long run for large datasets):
- 2x TrueNAS core servers at different locations that replicate to each other (ZFS pools + snapshots for quick local restores)
- Backup to almost any cloud storage (eg. PCloud)

At the end of the day you want a minimum of 2 copies on redundant storage at different locations.
(personally I always work on minimum of 3 with 1 being immutable)
