My friend Google can't seem to find the answer (or maybe its just me) - so I'm asking here as I'm sure the bofs of MyBB can assist.
*TL;DR - Trying to share up to 3TB of data over my home network using Media Server, but it's not working properly.*
I have a Seagate 3TB external drive onto which I copied a whole bunch of various media files (amongst other stuff - e.g. backup files and the like). I connected the drive to the USB port of my TP-Link Archer C2 router. I linked the drive as a Media Server through the router, and added my "Media" folder for access.
The Media folder contains 2 sub folders - Media1 and Media2, Media1 is about 750 gigs of data, and Media2 around 850 gigs. Media1 has 28 subfolders, each containing data files, while Media2 has 44 sub folders, each containing additional subfolders (between 2 and 10 each) with data files.
Now when I connect to the media server, either from my TV or from my Laptop, I can see both Media1 and Media2 subfolders. Media1's 28 sub folders are all visible, and it would appear that all data files in those sub folders are visible (although I did not do a 1 for 1 check). However, for Media2 I can only see 12 of the of the 44 subfolders. (Note - If I select any one of the available data files I can view/play the content on both the laptop and TV with no issues).
I figured therefore that there may be some limitation or restriction on the size of the data that could be used. So if Media1 is fully available (750 gigs), and only c~25% of Media2 is available (say 250 gigs), the restriction could be around 1TB. So I changed the media server access to only allow the Media2 folder to be accessed (850 gigs). But when checking on both the TV and laptop, Media2 folder is displayed but I can only see 32 of 44 available subfolders (about 70% or c~650 gigs).
This has me completely stumped! What am I missing here?
I have also tried the following on Media2-
Created 3 subfolders and distributed the contents 44 subfolders equally between them = no change noted
Checked file/folder settings and permissions between visible and missing items = all seem to have the same settings
Are there any restrictions/limitations on data size or file size, or number of files/number of folders/subfolders that is preventing me from seeing all my media when incorporated as a media server? Furthermore, I still have at least another 800 gigs of additional media files that I'd like to add to the media server (Media3 and Media4).
Any suggestions on what could be the issue? What would be the recommendations to fix this?
