No we dont really know. Considering the amount of information that floats around the about each of us I doubt Truecaller makes much of a difference. I mean I have an email address with 19GB of online storage and a phone running a mobile operating system all developed using funds made by selling my information in the for of targeted advertisements. Where do you draw the line exactly? Would you rather hide your phone number or the fact that sometimes you like to buy used lady undergarments off the internet?

My problem is not all that. My problem is that truecaller asks you if you have all your contacts permission to share their personal information. Which you don't. I think that is unethical. But then again, it doesn't really matter. The government will happily leak much more.

Aah yes my bad that I do understand. You could always wipe your entire phone book and just use the true caller live DB but yeah that does not mean someone else is not sharing your info without your permission.

Exactly. So it doesn't really mater what anyone thinks about Truecaller or their privacy, someone else will do it for you. Therefor my conclusion is that Truecaller sells allot more than just ads, they are not stupid, and they want all those information whether it is ethical or not. No one will stop them either. Should I Answer works great and doesn't require any personal information or those of your contacts to work. The only thing missing is spam word blocking.

How does it work? Do you have to submit a number to be listed as spam?

Yes. They have built up a good database over the years. If you find a public number that is spam and not listed yet you can submit it (making your rating public) by just pressing a button. If you have personal numbers that you want to be blocked you can keep it private. Try it out.

So was Hitler :D

Same with LG. My list looks almost the same. The only downside (if it can be called as such) this also blocks 'please call mes' because they are full of ads. Not that I usually mind, but some of my friends don't have airtime and send please call me when they outside the gate or whatever..

.... at hiding the fact that they collect info unethically.

This is what I was looking for.
Thank you

If they care they can get truecaller and remove it themselves.
You got it backwards, why must someone go and ask to be taken off when they never gave their permission in the first place? And why must someone go and find out if they were illegally put on the list?

Truecaller has a responsibility to inform you that they have your info and ask permission to use it. They must do this BEFORE making it available to they products and the rest of the world.

The key word is "I don't care". There are people that don't care therefor these companies can get away with anything. Its not worth wasting your breath on it.
