Hi Guys,

Not too familiar with the two.

What's the main diff between the two products? Which is better in your opinion? We've got Final Cut Pro but might look at getting Premiere Pro as well. Need to know if it's worth buying the Adobe package.

Thanks

Depending on your level of editing skill, perhaps it would be worthwhile adding Sony's Vegas to your option list. I don't know much about video editing but I've found it to be the easiest and most compatible (in terms of file formats both in importing & exporting) so far.

I have only worked with Premiere Pro so far and i like it. If you work with other Adobe apps, like After Effects, Audition, etc. you will immediately be able to use the workspace as they follow the same look and feel for basically all their apps.

My friend is a camera man for Homebrew Films and an editor off the side at home.. We both do editing. We have Adobe Premier (some old version) Adobe Premier Pro and resently got Adobe Premier 2.0. AP2.0 works wonders! Support for HD and more formats than others. Just $$ allot!

The biggest difference would be that Premiere is on PC and Final Cut on a Mac.

Other than that you should be able to do anything you want on either package.

I prefer Premiere, but mostly because I prefer PC over Mac.

What will you be using the system for? small (home video) type edits of handycam or DV, or bigger broadcast quality type edits of analogue sources.

Would you want the system to be able to handle HD?

You should take all of these in to account when you decide on a system

Thanks for the input.

The system is used for making animated newsboards. We have a production company that makes a newsboards for us and we add the text using the Mac. I guess if we have the Mac already, there's no need to change.

Use both FCP and Premiere. FCP has had more high end users in recent years, more so than Premiere. The FCP bundle also includes Motion 2 which is great
for motion effects (including animation, text and logos) plus it integrates well
with Shake which is way more powerful than After Effects. Using both FCP
and Premiere, I found Premiere to be buggier than FCP, sometimes Premiere
crashes unexpectedly or it dies and it corrupts it's save file which means
you've lost a lot of time. On looking around on the web I found a lot of people
had issues with Premiere save file corruption. FCP also has a great slow-mo
filter with frame interpolation which seems to look better than the one on
Premiere. Otherwise they're both Professional Apps. The other two alternatives are Avid (you can download a free software version to try it out),
Avid is probably the most professional of these packages and Sony Vegas.

how much more difficult is it to use programs such as the ones mentioned in this thread, compared to something like pinnacle studio 10?

final cut pro is better and mac too if you wand to do good things do this fcp is more performant and fiable, the interfaces of fcp and premiere are identical, premier have a option for customize shortcuts like fcp... i propose you to try fcp, i use it from two years, great program, good results, if you need more information or detalied say me, i work in a tv too, so can help you with advices...

I recommend Premiere Pro if you work with other Adobe programs - the integration among different Adobe programs, such as Photoshop and Premiere, is excellent. I have never used Final Cut, but have used Premiere a lot and I can definitely recommend it!

FCP is what Adobe Premiere aspires to be.

But the main question is hardware. If you have a PC then Adobe Premiere is your only option. If you have a Mac though you can run either one ;)
