Electoral Commission of SA chairwoman Pansy Tlakula announced the final results of national and provincial elections on Saturday evening.

Below is a list of each party with the number of votes and percentage of total votes it received.

- ANC 11,436,921 --- 62.15%

- DA 4,091,584 --- 22.23%

- EFF 1,169,259 --- 6.35%

- IFP 441,854 --- 2.40%

- NFP 288,742 --- 1.57%

- UDM 184,636 --- 1.00%

- VF PLUS 165,715 -- 0.90%

MORE THAN 18M PEOPLE VOTED

More than 18 million South Africans voted in provincial and national elections on Wednesday, the country's fifth democratic elections.

Electoral Commission of SA chairwoman Pansy Tlakula announced the final results on Saturday evening.

The total number of valid votes cast was 18,402,497.

The number of spoilt votes was 251,960.

Voter turnout was 73,43 percent out of a registered population of 25,381,293.

13 PARTIES GET NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SEATS

Thirteen parties won seats in the National Assembly, IEC chairwoman Pansy Tlakula announced on Saturday.

"A record of 29 parties contested these elections," she said at the release of the final election results in Pretoria.

"Out of these, 13 have received sufficient votes to have representation in the National Assembly."

The ANC received 249 seats while the official opposition, the Democratic Alliance received 89 seats.

Newcomers the Economic Freedom Fighters received 25, the third highest number, while the Inkatha Freedom Party received 10 and its breakaway party the National Freedom Party received six.

The United Democratic Movement and the Freedom Front Plus both received four seats, while the Congress of the People, AIC and the African Christian Democratic Party secured three seats each.

Mamphela Ramphele's Agang SA got two seats.

The African People's Convention and the Pan Africanist Congress received one seat each.

PAC really fading into obscurity, couldn't even manage a seat with all that history. Also curious to see all the people EFF are sending to Cape Town. I have a feeling if Juju can't beat his charges, a COPE style leadership battle will happen.

There is a risk that they will become bed-fellows for issues that suit labour and nationalisation.
