Wherever the D3C0D4 ring leads me!!
With the new BT Games stores that opened this weekend past, they had the Halo Wars edition on special for R2999.99. Xbox Pro, headset, Halo Wars, Halo3..... the works really. And a bargain at that price.

Even so I got to the store in two minds whether to buy or not....... till I checked the current rating.......12.1A :eek:

Jasper FTW!!!

All I need now is an HDMI to DVI cable (which I would've got if Esquire was open this weekend ) so that I can connect it up to my LCD monitor. But then I spotted something that could be a problem.

The HDMI plug and the normal "connect to TV" plug are right next to each other. Will I be able to connect both at the same time? Since I'll be using the HDMI for visial and the other one for sound.

Am I thinking this through right? How did you guys do it?

HDMI runs audio and video on the same cable. No need for running the component cable at the same time.

Unfortunately Micro$oft wants you to buy a very expensive Micro$oft product to be able to do that http://www.take2.co.za/games-official-xbox-360-hdmi-cable-3334492.html

The other option is to do the following:
"....As an alternative, you don't need to get a new cable. With a bit of a DIY hack you can pop the bottom half of the regular 360 AV cable off so it can connect at the same time as the HDMI cable, then you can use direct optical out with HDMI...."

There is a DIY on the internet on how to do that.

Not when using an HDMI to DVI cable.

Altho thinking about it I should maybe just get myself one of these rather. There shouldn't be a difference in quality between DVI connector and the normal VGA connector, should there?

That's an HDMI to HDMI-with-AV connector. I was looking for an HDMI to DVI-with-AV to use on my PC's LCD monitor and Z2300.

What is the highest resolution that your LCD can go? HDMI will give you 1920x1080 resolution, so if your LCD cannot go that high then I would say just get the normal VGA.

O ... didn't know you have a HDMI-DVI cable.

A normal VGA cable can also do the trick

True, my native res sits at 1680x1050, so I'll only be able to get 720p. But according to the specs of the cable it can go all the way up to 1080p if your screen supports it.

Do you BTW? :)

A mate of mine at work bought the same 'box this weekend... I've been badgering him to get a 360 and told him about the special on for this past weekend. He couldn't stop talking about the awesomeness that is the 360 this morning... :p

Buy VGA comes with the two rca for sound. You wont get audio with the adapter.
