So after 5 years of RAIN its time to call it a day...The last 8 months have been absolutely terrible with speeds often less then 5Mbps and constant disconnects and high ping. Initially RAIN was a good option as it was R500 odd for unlimited data but when you can barely make use of the network, well, thats when we have to part ways. Last straw was seeing a picture downloading almost line by line as though we are back in the days of GPRS/Edge...

I've opted for the 200G at R399 from MTN...Speeds are as follows for MTN...massive difference from RAIN.

DOWNLOAD Mbps
78.75
UPLOAD Mbps
37.68
Ping ms 38

No support tickets were ever logged so the issues just continued....And I am gatvol.

I have cancelled my RAIN on their website and have sent a message to the rep here to confirm that it has been received and what the final billing amount will be. Screenshot is below.
I did try to call them on 081 610 1000 as well...however after 10 minutes I just gave up...
I feel that I have done everything reasonable to ensure this is cancelled.
I would also like to get my CC details removed from their site.

I will update this as we go along as I know they are likely to still keep on debiting me.
Apparently they cannot cancel straight away. Although in a previous call I was told it would be a prorata rate but anyway...

Lets see at month end.

This is what I received via email:

help is on its way

Hey there,

Thank you for contacting rain. Your request has been received and one of our agents will get back to you soon.
Reference Number: 18593364

I just received a call from a RAIN rep, asked why do I want to cancel etc.

RAIN confirmed that they would be able to cancel the service with immediate effect and would be able to do a pro rata billing for the last few days as its only the 3rd of April.

Hopefully I will be receiving an email to confirm this.

I have also requested that my profile be removed from their system as this obviously has my CC details on it which they do not allow you to remove.

@Jam Sandwich , do what I do, link them to a VC, that you can cancel, and then the payment fails and they CANT debit you
nice solution to a issue of debiting people when they have cancelled.

seriously, you could do it with insurance companies, and anything else you can think of, very neat way of covering yourself from Debit orders.

Thanks, although to be fair I have been with RAIN since 2019 and have never had any issues with the billing, just their network.

Back then I also had a virgin CC and used to use that as it had a R1000 limit on it or something.

I just see all the complaints about RAIN still debiting clients after cancellation and thought I would document how my experience was.

Ja no fsck I have one sim I canceled on 8 March 2024. Still got billed end of March. Not sure if that is the last time they gonna deduct but I have a strong feeling it won't be. Also got that stupid email from help is on the way. No one can confirm if my service has been canceled or not.

@rain_mobile can you assist?

Well, I was debited yesterday R499 for the month of March as my account is apparently postpaid, now I await confirmation of the final amount, pro-rata, that will be deducted at the end of the month.

Well done RAIN...I was debited the R49 yesterday as they said...I have now requested that all my details, CC details and profile be removed from their system. Ive also requested some form of notification confirming that I am indeed paid up to date and will no longer be billed.

Received an email from RAIN stating that my details and account have now been removed and I will no longer be billed.

I also canceled today. Put in that i need a new sim as sim was damaged. Today i had to phone them about new sim. Said new sim only maybe next week. Been with them for a few years. Bad service
