so, Ive stayed away from raiding completely since end of wrath, was bored to tears and very close to burnout, other than the Baradin Hold raid, which I normally setup my own classrun (got my t11 hands that way).

now I'm going to change guilds probably this evening to a semi-hardcore raid guild :D this requires me to actually know what bosses do, and what I need to do. so is there any kind person out there that can point me in the direction of some easy to read (note: read) raid boss guides? Im on a 384k line, so videos will actually take me longer to load up than the bossfight will take to complete.

many thanks :)

OT: anyone gonna be checking out Rift? my current gm says its quite cool, similar to wow, but not

wowwiki usually is a good place to read the basics of all the fights, in a not to complicated manner. Should be a number of raid walkthrough guides available as well covering from trash to bosses.

Yeah Rift sounds like the typical Aion come and go die game. I'm tempted to give it a go after being completely bored of warcraft, but then again...

ha! nice one. I used to have wowwiki bookmarked, but they said they were going to stop that site and move everything over to wowpedia, which they havent done. cant remember where I erad that, but duly havent looked at wowwiki in a month or 2. cheers. any other sites?

regarding rift, if the new wow raids are rubbish, I will be taking a break and checking out rift. costs the same monthly fee as wow, and from what I hear, all the people are decent n friendly. it sounds like a lot of people from wow that are unhappy with the community have just upped and left. probably a lot of my feral brothers and sisters too

Well, http://www.wowpedia.org/Portal:Main has jumped up and are better than wowwiki to get general abilities info etc

But really best you can do is is use sites like tankspot.com (movie guides, but also written guide below usually), or just use Google or just do a youtube search or even mmochampion forums etc.

Best of luck with the raiding mate.

Rift looks pretty decent, thou ass all before I doubt it will in the end really really compete with wow.

the guild Im in is *highly* social, and even in there people are complaining about wow. some quite bitterly too I must admit. these are people who play with their partners, have kids etc, not hardcore or even near to it. one wonders if blizzard is slowly killing off their cashcow. they can re-design the wintersaber mount grind, but cant sort out several specs, or design new raids and dungeons...

arena pvp really fcked wow up

For me the social aspect in WoW is totally *ucked up. MMOs are about grouping up and taking something on (killing usually :p) and just having fun doing it. Long gone is the grouping aspect, lower xp means almost everyone goes solo. Dungeons and raids? Well if you suck, you get sworn the *uck out most of the time. It's just one massive greed fest.
Funny enough i'm playing Warhammer online which has it's population issues, but i'm having a hell of a lot more fun than I did in WoW, even though WoW is obviously a perfect piece of pie. It's sad to see so much land in WoW to explore, yet everyone you see is going solo.

Checkout love2playwow. His vids are much short than tankspot and only goes over the rudimentarys

If you like you can PM me an email address and I can forward you all of the raid guides I wrote up for my guild.

wowhead normally has a rundown of the rudimentaries (abilities, timers and add spawns). Usefull if you just want a quick overview of what to look out for without detailed strategies.

Well what I tend to do is just read up on the encounter first... Then check out a video or two preferably the tankspot tutorial ones are very good, and last I would go and check on EJ / Specific forums if there is any special tips and tricks relevant to my class that I can use on the encounter... You would be surprised how much handy information you can pickup from your own respective class forums.

The only thing you have to keep in mind is that most guilds would make minor changes to the strats to suit them... mainly depends on your raid setup etc. Dont be scared to ask the people in the raid if there is anything special they do on the encounters... rather be safe and ask someone, than make a stupid mistake and wiping the raid :-p

Use good mods to assist you... Big Wigs is really awsome lately... Love the way you can emphasise certain abilities with verbal countdowns etc.

meh. by the day I seem to be losing interest in wow. saturday is my 1st raid, then tuesday. if its not cool, my sub renews on the 18th. might let it go and try rift... hearing good things about it... seeing as my poor kittay is just getting beaten upside the head regulary its no fun to play anymore. shred spam ftl :(

dw kaine am on the same boat. like the occasional run on my hunter, but cba to tank or heal anymore. will give rift a try, but once the fanboi dust has settled, don't want a repeat of aion.

Though I am not sure if I can go through all the getting established bs in a game again.

You should quit now.

The nature if raiding is such that it takes a number of attempts to be successful. The chances are that on your first raid, your dps will be worse than in normal 5 man. You will get no loot. You feel excluded from banter as people in the raid talk with confidence of having been there before. It takes a few raids before you become "part of the team".

Alternatively, don't take it so seriously and just have fun. If you arent having fun. Quit now :)

I did only my 3rd blackwing descent raid this week. I was offtank. The first runs where rough. Healers struggled to keep me alive. When we only needed dps, my dps was shocking. We didn't get past omnicron council.

This Wed run we killed 4 bosses and I had a much better run. Looking forward to tonight raid;)

Nut up or shut up :p
Get unshaped for raids
Get your rotation 100% spot on
Get better raid addons
Get flak and food buffs
Get all your gear enchanted and gemed

And for gods sake have FUN :D

my kittay was always fun, hard work, but fun. and lots of it. hence the over 100 days played. now blizz have made it so000 easy to play the toon...

I know my rotation upside down, and referring to previous sentence has become even easier. got all flasks, food and enchants (except the ones that need maelstrom crystals)

and this is the 3rd team raid thats going, so several alts n whatnot. mains get prio on loot. mind, I think Im the only leather wearer in the raid (so far). gonna be annoyed if I get more healing gear than dps gear :p

so, update from the raid on saturday: YAY :D Im in love with wow again. 3 bosses down, in magmaw, the golem council and maloriak. loads of fun was had! got new pants and a new ring, cant remember what the pants are called (aberration something?) and the lightening conductor band.

did atramedes after, but couldnt get it down in time. any tips though to keeping sound levels down as melee? because I died quick each time, as did the other melee.

roll on 2moro nite :D

Not too sure about melee But in general keep this in mind

Ground phase :
1. watch out for the big swirly circles at all times. I remember hearing he has a huge hit box ,so u can dps from a range and dodge the swirly circles as they come at you. The melee probably died because they got a high sound from this
2. Keep watching the timer for his breath thing , and make sure you move in the correct way if you are targeted. Fail and ull probably be named and shamed

3. Air phase Keep moving, if he targets you, sprint. Don’t stand in the fire

get a faster internet line if your doing 25 mans xD otherwise you gonna have a dc fest on some bosses
