Whats the best way to get finance to buy a mac.
I asked at the iStore last week and the only way they can help is with a 36 month vodacom contract with the purchase. But i am not keen to do that.

Any other suggestions?

Try incredible connection, some have hi finance.

Personal loan might be an option, but the interest rates are extreme, sometimes its more worth putting it on a credit card (but thats a bad idea). I don't believe in buying a computer on credit, unless its going to be your primary means of income (pay for itself). If so then you should have a company, and should be able to get a bit of a loan from there.

You can request a 24 month contract. The monthly premium is obviously higher but you do end up saving a lot of money. It's what I did for my MacBook Pro. When I analyzed what I was getting in the whole package, I worked that I was only paying about R90 interest per month. Compared that to forking out R18,000 of savings I decided it would be better to take it over 24 months.

Also look at relative values... for instance what does R100 buy you now,... what did it get you 3 years ago... what do you think you will get for it 3 years from now... take litres of petrol as an example.

Given that you will get updates of software I think its worth getting.

Wow. You know you're a fanboy when you want to pay more for the overpriced product than it already is. Good luck to you sir, I sure hope buyer's remorse takes a while to kick in for you :)

As i posted elsewhere - my SO bought a Macbook Pro on a MTN 24 month contract, as Voda mostly has 36 month contracts?

But it's still R600 a month! At least her work is paying 60% of the bill! So it works out to R240 out of her pocket a month! Thanks for contract management companies...!

I would agree with this route.

If the Mac Book is going to generate an income or assist with educational studies, then its a no brainer, but if its a vanity purchase then one needs to rethink it.

Yeah true. Hence the MacBook was created. lol. MacBook Pro is overkill for me and what I use it for but I love the screen size. Oh well...

Vanity purchases are the best kind there are.

Buying something you want is very satisfying.... oohhhh ice-cream!
