Hi all,

I have just added additional content to my website. This time on Retirement annuities.

I hope you find it useful, but I would really appreciate feedback on how the subject is presented.

Instead of writing a long article I used a programme called Prezi. Its basically a super powerpoint presentation that moves from one section to another.

Please let me know if you enjoy this format and if you find any trouble with it since I plan on using this method going forward.

Thanks!

If you are using IE then you have to download a add-on called Google Chrome Frame.

This wont be viable for most people since it is simply not worth the effort.

Im sorry I wasted everyones time.

If a Mod/Admin is one please remove this thread.

I'm using chrome and it's not working?

Did you not test before stating the thread?

Working just fine on Firefox.

My only tip would be to not make the writing so close to the edge of the slide as this makes it difficult on the eyes. Leave a little margain/border if possible.

Great stuff as always Jo, keep up the good work

OK so it seems to be a privacy setting on Prezi itself that was causing the problem. Im glad its working for everyone.

Thanks Almighty. The nice thing with Prezi is that it is not a video and thus you can make it full screen without any loss of quality due to low resolution. Try it again and let me know if you still have a issue. But in the future I will add more of a margin to combat this.

Oooh that actually does look good full screen. But the text is still right next to the bezel of my monitor which just looks.... odd

Thanks for the great resource. :)

You mention that you'll update the section on the changes to the tax-deductions when they're finalized. Could you give us a sneak peak as to what that is currently set to entail? Or perhaps point me somewhere where I can read up on it!

P.S. I'd suggest creating a structured text version in addition to your prezy by the way; personally I struggled to get through it in this format.

My Pleasure!

The changes are as follows; individuals would be allowed, from that date (March 2014), to deduct up to 27.5 percent of the higher of taxable income or employment income, for contributions to pension, provident and retirement annuity funds.

The maximum annual deduction would be R350 000. Contributions above the cap would be carried forward to future tax years.

The main difference is that instead of 15% of non-retirement funding income its 27.5% of all income. So doing some maths that would mean that if you earn R106,060 or less pm, you can take full use of the 27.5%. Although I dont think many people earn in that income bracket.

I am happy with this change because it provides individual more incentive to save for their retirement and it makes the calculation of find the point where you can contribute to a retirement annuity, to maximise the tax advantages much easier to calculate.

The reason I didn't include it in the article was that these changes aren't written in stone yet and it is subject to change.

Ive transposed the prezi into the text version and will do so in all future content. Thanks for the feedback.

27.5% - wow that's pretty crazy and has some solid tax implications! I hope it goes through in this form. :)

Thanks for the text version too - much appreciated.
