I just filed my first ever tax return today. I had forgot to submit ( to press the file button) the IRP12, I thought I did it in October :o So anyway. I might get some money back according to the calculator.

I've got my Capitec Internet Banking (with that dongle thing) up and working. I'm slowly gonna put all my debit orders over to that. Its half the price per debit order (than Standard Bank) and if I have enough money in there, the interest rate of 10 (or 11% if over 10 000) will even cover those fees unlike the measly other banks savings account interest rates. In the end my salary will go into my Standard Bank and then I'll pump it all over to my Capitec. I'll also safe some excess rands into my Credit Card as well.

Since the Uno is paid off I'll be putting that extra R1000 into partly into my homeloan and partly into buying some Citrix Top 40. Another R150 pm will be freed when my one Family Top Up contract ends in February. I am still pondering where to channel that to.

My works pension fund is now (after 9 months) enough to cover one months salary, so that makes me happy and its even earned some 5% growth over the past 9 months.

What are your financial plans for 2009?

Well i for one would like to expand some part time "hobbies" of mine. 2008 has been a very lazy year, between the new girlfriend, company merging etc iv'e not had much time for anything else. I need to focus my attention to matters on hand more, i really think it all worked out well as i am much a wiser person than i was a year ago not to mention alot more patient.

I also wanna get my almera paid off this year as well as some minor loans. I have a feeling 2009 is going to be a good year for me,

lets hope so :p

To start off with I'm going to say that 2008 has been a good year financially, I bought the wife a new car and also managed to clear most of my other debt. The x-mas bonus has also helped a lot with staying on track to become debt free.

2009 is also starting off well, I get t he first part of the salary increase associated with my promotion from January, so that an additional 10% a month and then in March another 8.5% which will make life a lot easier. I've also decided to take on some more private work which always helps the overall situation.

If possible in 2009 I'd like to:
1. Expand my patio
2. Fix up the garden
3. Go to Mauritius for a week
4. Get a dishwasher, pvr and a new pc

At this stage though these plans are being put on the back burner, the wife is really not happy with the company she's working for and will not be extending her contract or taking up a full time position when her current contract is complete. So I'll have to cover for us until she finds something else.

I have a couple of small debts I want to finish paying off, nothing major though. I also want to try and save some cash too, if thats even possible

2009? Well, just relocated back to PTA but still finishing off some work in CT/DBN. I could start at my new job by begining of March the latest. The way things are looking at the moment I'l most probably take a paycut. At my current job I'm due for a minimum 10% salary increament by the begining of Feb after my review - but it doesnt look like its gonna happen cause I'm not renewing my contract, so the review may not even take place. They've asked me to consult with them for at least 3 months while they look for my replacement (I wonder if I can still ask for my increament after Jan??).

I am currently looking for a nice 2 bed house in around PTA city centre, so thats a bond right there.

So, unless I get a much better paying job (which I think I can land it in about 2-4mths), things are gonna be a lil' bit tough.
