I've just got back from the UK where commuting is easy albeit frustrating and tedious. Since my arrival I've been driving my girlfriends immaculate 1979 Opel Kadette which imo is awesome and great fun to drive. However traffic to and from work is not as easy as what it was in the UK. And I miss the joy of easily getting to and from work. So I've decided to take the plunge and finance a scooter.

I searched for reliable scooters first. Then good looking reliable scooters. Then good looking, reliable and fast scooters. Then found myself on Honda's SA site looking at a CBR600RR. I loll'd and carried on looking for good looking scooters. I arrived here and made my choice: BigBoy Revival. I think it looks great!

I started my research on helmets which in turn led me to this picture: Helmet Damage found on this site: http://www.flamesonmytank.co.za/helmets.htm. I wanted to get a classic scooter helmet where your chin is exposed. The helmet that makes you look so stupid that chicks dig it, I assume, based on its success factor in iTALY. Instead I decided to waiver the opportunity of hordes of women flocking to my Italian Stallion and opt in for chin safety. 19% helmet damage on your chin? My John Travolta bum chin is too precious to lose! In the end I went for a full faced helmet.

I went to DMC Motorcycles in Randburg and looked at the Revival. Thought the scooter awesome and at work today added a Black Revival, BBR V210, 15 months ext warranty and registration to my Shopping Cart.

I financed the total loan of R12,500 over 5 years at R300 p/m. I intend to pay R1200 p/m which will drop my capital all the while of having a spread interest. I considered a personal loan with Std Bank but found the interest rate way higher than if I were to finance this asset. Also with finance, if for whatever reason I fail to make a monthly payment, the penalties are far less severe as with a personal loan.

Anyone want to see any pictures when I get it? :P

I have a Big Boy Retro, great scooter. It a lot of fun commuting to work by scooter, not to mention, saving fuel etc.
