Finasteride (propecia) prescription

I am in desperate need to get some finasteride however I do need a prescription to buy it. I was wondering if a GP is able to prescribe this to me or do I need to make an appointment with a dermatologist which all seem to be fully booked for the next few months. I stay in JHB north.
