Find out ADSL IP without DynDNS

Hi,

I have a Netgear Router, and the only Dynamic DNS service it supports is DynDNS.
DynDNS did away with their free Dynamic DNS service and I do not feel like paying 20$ a year for something I hardly use. How else can I find the daily given IP address of the router from a remote location, ie. can the windows PC attached to the router send me the internet IP on a daily basis or something, or can I find the current session IP in the Mweb Control Panel?

If it was a linux PC I'd figure out a way to do it with a bash script or something. Any ideas?
 
The DynDNS free option is still there, just hidden. Sign up for the pro trial. It gives you one month free after which point it assumes you like it and they bill you. I forgot to cancel. Anyway, if you cancel, it goes to the normal free version with only 1 domain and whatnot.

Only have windows available? You could probably use the curl script after installing some programs.

He said IF it was a linux PC he could figure out how to do a bash script. Not "Help me with a bash script, I have a linux PC"

Doesn't need any additional programs though, if he can bash script, he can also VBScript (which is piss easy) and have the windows scheduler run every few minutes and pull from whatismyip.com and email it to himself

Free account option is just hidden but still there,or you can install No-ip client on a windows machine
 
Use the no-ip client on a windows machine.

Seriously, there is a market for the ISP's here. They can offer their users this sort of service for free, and charge noncustomers a small fee. ClearOS offer this sort of service for their ClearOS installs, something like <boxname>.poweredbyclear.com - and is a free service.

I tried signing up for a free Dyn account, but left it when they waved their billing stuff at me. Not interested. Using no-ip at the moment.

With a static IP it is easy, just write the IP down somewhere, but a dynamic IP is totally different.

I have signed up with No-IP for now! that is sort of what I was looking for.
I think I might just write a short C program to send the IP to my email everytime it changes, then there will be no emails nagging me to sign up and pay more money etc.
