My friend gave me his Pentium 4 to format. He had lost the drivers CD and I don't know what drivers to use for the onboard sound. I downloaded the driver guide utility but that just freezes. I also had a look on the motherboard and typed the name into google but couldn't find anything.

Please help :D

Look for markings on the motherboard, it usually has some text on it, then search google for it.. if that does not work post thos numbers here and I get it for u :)

Give me the mainboard make and the model number you find on the board. I'll work from there.

jetway motherboard oms never heard of em

why use driverguide if you can go to manufacturers website and /dl them

if there is no marking on the mother or not m/b number through it away then

when it boots it should give some info

i mean it cant just be nameless

on xp, go to device manager, find your unknown device, pull up the properties for this device.
now, go to the details tab, you will see a line like
pci\ven_ xyz &DEV abc

plug the xyz and the abc parts (4 digits each) into this site
www.pcidatabase.com

now, you will find out who made it and what it is...then , a simple bit of googling will find your driver.
